1 And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.1 And on hearing it, King Hezekiah took off his robe, and put on haircloth, and went into the house of the Lord.1 히스기야왕이 듣고 그 옷을 찢고 굵은 베를 입고 여호와의 전에 들어가서

3 And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.3 And they said to him, Hezekiah says, This day is a day of trouble and punishment and shame; for the children are ready to come to birth, but there is no strength to give birth to them.3 저희가 이사야에게 이르되 히스기야의 말씀이 오늘은 곤란과 책벌과 능욕의 날이라 아이가 임산하였으나 해산할 힘이 없도다
4 It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.4 It may be that the Lord your God will give ear to the words of the Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, sent to say evil things against the living God, and will make his words come to nothing: so then make your prayer for the rest of the people.4 랍사게가 그 주 앗수르 왕의 보냄을 받고 와서 사신 하나님을 훼방하였으니 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 혹시 저의 말을 들으셨을지라 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그 들으신 말을 인하여 꾸짖으실듯하니 당신은 이 남아 있는 자를 위하여 기도하소서 하더이다

6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.6 And Isaiah said to them, This is what you are to say to your master: The Lord says, Be not troubled by the words which the servants of the king of Assyria have said against me in your hearing.6 이사야가 저희에게 이르되 너희는 너희 주에게 이렇게 고하라 여호와의 말씀이 너는 앗수르 왕의 신복에게 들은바 나를 능욕하는 말을 인하여 두려워하지 말라
7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.7 See, I will put a spirit into him, and bad news will come to his ears, and he will go back to his land; and there I will have him put to death by the sword.7 내가 한 영을 저의 속에 두어 저로 풍문을 듣고 그 본국으로 돌아가게 하고 또 그 본국에서 저로 칼에 죽게 하리라 하셨느니라
8 So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.8 So the Rab-shakeh went back, and when he got there the king of Assyria was making war against Libnah, for it had come to his ears that he had gone away from Lachish.8 랍사게가 돌아 가다가 앗수르 왕이 이미 라기스에서 떠났다 함을 듣고 립나로 가서 왕을 만났으니 왕이 거기서 싸우는 중이더라
9 And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,9 And when news came to him that Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, had made an attack on him, he sent representatives to Hezekiah again, saying,9 앗수르 왕이 구스 왕 디르하가가 나와서 더불어 싸우고자 한다 함을 듣고 다시 히스기야에게 사자를 보내며 가로되
10 Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.10 This is what you are to say to Hezekiah, king of Judah: Let not your God, in whom is your faith, give you a false hope, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.10 너희는 유다 왕 히스기야에게 이같이 말하여 이르기를 너의 의뢰하는 네 하나님이 예루살렘을 앗수르 왕의 손에 붙이지 않겠다 하는 말에 속지 말라
11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?11 No doubt the story has come to your ears of what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, putting them to the curse; and will you be kept safe?11 앗수르의 열왕이 열방에 행한바 진멸한 일을 네가 들었나니 네가 어찌 구원을 얻겠느냐
12 Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?12 Did the gods of the nations keep safe those on whom my fathers sent destruction, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?12 내 열조가 멸하신 열방 곧 고산과 하란과 레셉과 들라살에 있는 에덴 족속을 그 나라의 신들이 건졌느냐
13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the town of Sepharvaim, of Hena and of Ivvah?13 하맛 왕과 아르밧 왕과 스발와임성의 왕과 헤나와 아와의 왕들이 다 어디 있느냐 하라 하니라
14 And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.14 And Hezekiah took the letter from the hands of those who had come with it; and after reading it, Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, opening the letter there before the Lord.14 히스기야가 사자의 손에서 편지를 받아보고 여호와의 전에 올라가서 그 편지를 여호와 앞에 펴 놓고
15 And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.15 And Hezekiah made his prayer to the Lord, saying, O Lord, the God of Israel, seated between the winged ones, you only are the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.15 그 앞에서 기도하여 가로되 그룹들 위에 계신 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여 주는 천하 만국에 홀로 하나님이시라 주께서 천지를 조성하셨나이다
16 LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.16 Let your ear be turned to us, O Lord, and let your eyes be open, O Lord, and see; take note of all the words of Sennacherib who has sent men to say evil against the living God.16 여호와여 귀를 기울여 들으소서 여호와여 눈을 떠서 보시옵소서 산헤립이 사신 하나님을 훼방하러 보낸 말을 들으시옵소서
17 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,17 Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have made waste the nations and their lands,17 여호와여 앗수르 열왕이 과연 열방과 그 땅을 황폐케 하고
18 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.18 And have given their gods to the fire; for they were no gods, but wood and stone, the work of men's hands; so they have given them to destruction.18 또 그 신들을 불에 던졌사오니 이는 저희가 신이 아니요 사람의 손으로 지은 것 곧 나무와 돌 뿐이므로 멸하였나이다
19 Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.19 But now, O Lord our God, give us salvation from his hands, so that it may be clear to all the kingdoms of the earth that you and only you, O Lord, are God.19 우리 하나님 여호와여 원컨대 이제 우리를 그 손에서 구원하옵소서 그리하시면 천하 만국이 주 여호와는 홀로 하나님이신줄 알리이다 하니라
20 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.20 Then Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying, The Lord, the God of Israel, says, The prayer which you have made to me against Sennacherib, king of Assyria, has come to my ears.20 아모스의 아들 이사야가 히스기야에게 기별하여 가로되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 네가 앗수르 왕 산헤립 까닭에 내게 기도하는 것을 내가 들었노라 하셨나이다
21 This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.21 This is the word which the Lord has said about him: In the eyes of the virgin daughter of Zion you are shamed and laughed at; the daughter of Jerusalem has made sport of you.21 여호와께서 앗수르 왕에게 대하여 이같이 말씀하시기를 처녀 딸 시온이 너를 멸시하며 너를 비웃었으며 딸 예루살렘이 너를 향하여 머리를 흔들었느니라
22 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.22 Against whom have you said evil and bitter things? against whom has your voice been loud and your eyes lifted up? even against the Holy One of Israel.22 네가 누구를 꾸짖었으며 훼방하였느냐 누구를 향하여 소리를 높였으며 눈을 높이 떴느냐 이스라엘의 거룩한 자에게 그리하였도다
23 By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots ㆍ I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.23 You have sent your servants with evil words against the Lord, and have said, With all my war-carriages I have come up to the top of the mountains, to the inmost parts of Lebanon; its tall cedars will be cut down, and the best trees of its woods; I will come up into his highest places, into his thick woods.23 네가 사자로 주를 훼방하여 이르기를 내가 많은 병거를 거느리고 여러 산꼭대기에 올라가며 레바논 깊은 곳에 이르러 높은 백향목과 아름다운 잣나무를 베고 내가 그 지경 끝에 들어가며 그 동산의 무성한 수풀에 이르리라
24 I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.24 I have made water-holes and taken their waters, and with my foot I have made all the rivers of Egypt dry.24 내가 땅을 파서 이방의 물을 마셨고 나의 발바닥으로 애굽의 모든 하수를 말렸노라 하였도다
25 Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.25 Has it not come to your ears how I did it long before, purposing it in times long past? Now I have given effect to my design, so that by you strong towns might be turned into masses of broken walls.25 네가 듣지 못하였느냐 이 일은 내가 태초부터 행하였고 상고부터 정한바라 이제 내가 이루어 너로 견고한 성들을 멸하여 돌무더기가 되게 함이니라
26 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house, tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown. up.26 This is why their townsmen had no power, they were broken and put to shame; they were like the grass of the field and the green plant, like grass on the house-tops.26 그러므로 그 거한 백성의 힘이 약하여 두려워하며 놀랐나니 저희는 마치 들의 풀 같고 나물 같고 지붕의 풀 같고 자라기 전에 마른 곡초 같으니라
27 But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.27 But I have knowledge of your getting up and your resting, of your going out and your coming in.27 네 거처와 네 출입과 네가 내게 향한 분노를 내가 다 아노니
28 Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.28 Because your wrath against me and your words of pride have come up to my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my cord in your lips, and I will make you go back by the way you came.28 네가 내게 향한 분노와 네 교만한 말이 내 귀에 들렸도다 그러므로 내가 갈고리로 네 코에 꿰고 자갈을 네 입에 먹여 너를 오던 길로 끌어 돌이키리라 하셨나이다
29 And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.29 And this will be the sign to you: you will get your food this year from what comes up of itself; and in the second year from the produce of the same; and in the third year you will put in your seed and get in the grain and make vine-gardens and take of their fruit.29 또 네게 보일 징조가 이러하니 너희가 금년에는 스스로 자라난 것을 먹고 명년에는 그것에서 난 것을 먹되 제 삼년에는 심고 거두며 포도원을 심고 그 열매를 먹으리라
30 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.30 And those of Judah who are still living will again take root in the earth and give fruit.30 유다 족속의 피하고 남은 자는 다시 아래로 뿌리가 서리고 위로 열매를 맺을찌라
31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.31 For from Jerusalem those who have been kept safe will go out, and those who are still living will go out of Mount Zion: by the fixed purpose of the Lord of armies this will be done.31 남은 자는 예루살렘에서부터 나올 것이요 피하는 자는 시온산에서부터 나오리니 여호와의 열심이 이 일을 이루리라 하셨나이다
32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.32 For this cause the Lord says about the king of Assyria, He will not come into this town, or send an arrow against it; he will not come before it with arms, or put up an earthwork against it;32 그러므로 여호와께서 앗수르 왕을 가리켜 이르시기를 저가 이 성에 이르지 못하며 이리로 살을 쏘지 못하며 방패를 성을 향하여 세우지 못하며 치려고 토성을 쌓지도 못하고
33 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.33 By the way he came he will go back, and he will not get into this town, says the Lord.33 오던 길로 돌아가고 이 성에 이르지 못하리라 하셨으니 이는 여호와의 말씀이시라
34 For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.34 For I will keep this town safe, for my honour, and for the honour of my servant David.34 내가 나와 나의 종 다윗을 위하여 이 성을 보호하여 구원하리라 하셨나이다 하였더라
35 And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.35 And that night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death in the army of the Assyrians a hundred and eighty-five thousand men; and when the people got up early in the morning, there was nothing to be seen but dead bodies.35 이 밤에 여호와의 사자가 나와서 앗수르 진에서 군사 십 팔만 오천을 친지라 아침에 일찌기 일어나 보니 다 송장이 되었더라
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.36 So Sennacherib, king of Assyria, went back to his place at Nineveh.36 앗수르 왕 산헤립이 떠나 돌아가서 니느웨에 거하더니
37 And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.37 And it came about, when he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to death with the sword; and they went in flight into the land of Ararat. And Esar-haddon his son became king in his place.37 그 신 니스록의 묘에 경배할 때에 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 저를 칼로 쳐 죽이고 아라랏 땅으로 도망하매 그 아들 에살핫돈이 대신하여 왕이 되니라
