2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and the chief priests, dressed in haircloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

3 And they said unto him, Thus saithHezekiah, This dayis a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.[x]MKJV: And they said to him, So says Hezekiah, [This is] a day of trouble and of rebuke and contempt. For the sons have come to the birth, and [there is] no strength to bring forth. BBE: And they said to him, Hezekiah says, This day is a day of trouble and punishment and shame; for the children are ready to come to birth, but there is no strength to give birth to them. KAV: 그들이 이사야에게 이르되, 히스기야가 이같이 말씀하시기를, 이 날은 고난과 책망과 모독의 날이니 아이들이 태어나려 하나 해산할 힘이 없도다.
3 And they said to him, Hezekiah says, This day is a day of trouble and punishment and shame; for the children are ready to come to birth, but there is no strength to give birth to them.
3 저희가 이사야에게 이르되 히스기야의 말씀이 오늘은 곤란과 책벌과 능욕의 날이라 아이가 임산하였으나 해산할 힘이 없도다
4 It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the livingGod; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift upthyprayer for the remnant that are left.[x]MKJV: It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of the chief cupbearer with which his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the LORD your God has heard. And you shall lift up prayer for the rest who are left. BBE: It may be that the Lord your God will give ear to the words of the Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, sent to say evil things against the living God, and will make his words come to nothing: so then make your prayer for the rest of the people. KAV: 랍사게의 주인인 아시리아 왕이 살아 계신 [하나님]을 모욕하려고 그를 보내었은즉 {주} 당신의 [하나님]께서 그의 모든 말들을 들으시고 {주} 당신의 [하나님]께서 들으신 그 말들을 꾸짖으실 터이니 그러므로 당신은 남아 있는 남은 자들을 위하여 당신의 기도를 올리소서, 하시나이다, 하니라.
4 It may be that the Lord your God will give ear to the words of the Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria, his master, sent to say evil things against the living God, and will make his words come to nothing: so then make your prayer for the rest of the people.
4 랍사게가 그 주 앗수르 왕의 보냄을 받고 와서 사신 하나님을 훼방하였으니 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 혹시 저의 말을 들으셨을지라 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 그 들으신 말을 인하여 꾸짖으실듯하니 당신은 이 남아 있는 자를 위하여 기도하소서 하더이다
5 So the servants of kingHezekiahcame to Isaiah.[x]MKJV: And the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah. BBE: So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah. KAV: 이와 같이 히스기야 왕의 신하들이 이사야에게 나아왔더라.

6 And Isaiahsaid unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraidof the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.[x]MKJV: And Isaiah said to them, You shall say to your master, So says the LORD, Do not be afraid of the words which you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me. BBE: And Isaiah said to them, This is what you are to say to your master: The Lord says, Be not troubled by the words which the servants of the king of Assyria have said against me in your hearing. KAV: ¶ 이사야가 그들에게 이르되, 너희는 너희 주인에게 이같이 말하라. {주}가 이같이 말하노라. 아시리아 왕의 신하들이 나를 모독하며 말한 말들 곧 네가 들은 말들로 인하여 두려워하지 말라.
6 And Isaiah said to them, This is what you are to say to your master: The Lord says, Be not troubled by the words which the servants of the king of Assyria have said against me in your hearing.
6 이사야가 저희에게 이르되 너희는 너희 주에게 이렇게 고하라 여호와의 말씀이 너는 앗수르 왕의 신복에게 들은바 나를 능욕하는 말을 인하여 두려워하지 말라
7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.[x]MKJV: Behold, I will send a blast on him, and he shall hear a rumor and shall return to his own land. And I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. BBE: See, I will put a spirit into him, and bad news will come to his ears, and he will go back to his land; and there I will have him put to death by the sword. KAV: 보라, 내가 그에게 돌풍을 보내리니 그가 풍문을 듣고 자기 땅으로 돌아갈 것이요, 내가 그를 그의 땅에서 칼에 쓰러지게 하리라, 하였더라.
7 See, I will put a spirit into him, and bad news will come to his ears, and he will go back to his land; and there I will have him put to death by the sword.
7 내가 한 영을 저의 속에 두어 저로 풍문을 듣고 그 본국으로 돌아가게 하고 또 그 본국에서 저로 칼에 죽게 하리라 하셨느니라
8 So Rabshakehreturned, and found the king of Assyriawarring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.[x]MKJV: And the chief cupbearer returned and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah, for he had heard that he had departed from Lachish. BBE: So the Rab-shakeh went back, and when he got there the king of Assyria was making war against Libnah, for it had come to his ears that he had gone away from Lachish. KAV: ¶ 이에 랍사게가 아시리아 왕이 라기스에서 떠났다는 것을 들었으므로 돌아가다가 립나를 치려고 전쟁 중에 있던 왕을 만나니라.
8 So the Rab-shakeh went back, and when he got there the king of Assyria was making war against Libnah, for it had come to his ears that he had gone away from Lachish.
8 랍사게가 돌아 가다가 앗수르 왕이 이미 라기스에서 떠났다 함을 듣고 립나로 가서 왕을 만났으니 왕이 거기서 싸우는 중이더라
9 And when he heardsay of Tirhakahking of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sentmessengersagain unto Hezekiah, saying,[x]MKJV: And when he heard it said of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he has come out to fight against you, he sent messengers again to Hezekiah, saying, BBE: And when news came to him that Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, had made an attack on him, he sent representatives to Hezekiah again, saying, KAV: 사람들이 이디오피아 왕 디르하가에 관하여 말하는 것을 그가 들었는데, 보라, 그가 너와 싸우려고 나왔다, 하므로 그가 다시 히스기야에게 사자들을 보내며 이르되,
9 And when news came to him that Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, had made an attack on him, he sent representatives to Hezekiah again, saying,
9 앗수르 왕이 구스 왕 디르하가가 나와서 더불어 싸우고자 한다 함을 듣고 다시 히스기야에게 사자를 보내며 가로되
10 Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiahking of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustestdeceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.[x]MKJV: So you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. BBE: This is what you are to say to Hezekiah, king of Judah: Let not your God, in whom is your faith, give you a false hope, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria. KAV: 너희는 유다 왕 히스기야에게 이같이 말하여 이르기를, 네가 신뢰하는 네 [하나님]이, 예루살렘을 아시리아 왕의 손에 넘겨주지 아니하리라, 하는 말로 너를 속이지 못하게 하라.
10 This is what you are to say to Hezekiah, king of Judah: Let not your God, in whom is your faith, give you a false hope, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria.
10 너희는 유다 왕 히스기야에게 이같이 말하여 이르기를 너의 의뢰하는 네 하나님이 예루살렘을 앗수르 왕의 손에 붙이지 않겠다 하는 말에 속지 말라
11 Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?[x]MKJV: Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by completely destroying them. And shall you be delivered? BBE: No doubt the story has come to your ears of what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, putting them to the curse; and will you be kept safe? KAV: 보라, 아시리아의 왕들이 모든 땅을 진멸함으로써 그 땅들에게 행한 바를 네가 들었나니 네가 구출을 받겠느냐?
11 No doubt the story has come to your ears of what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, putting them to the curse; and will you be kept safe?
11 앗수르의 열왕이 열방에 행한바 진멸한 일을 네가 들었나니 네가 어찌 구원을 얻겠느냐
12 Have the gods of the nationsdelivered them which my fathers have destroyed; asGozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?[x]MKJV: Have the gods of the nations delivered them, nations which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden in Telassar? BBE: Did the gods of the nations keep safe those on whom my fathers sent destruction, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the children of Eden who were in Telassar? KAV: 내 조상들이 멸한 민족들 곧 고산과 하란과 레셉과 들라살에 있던 에덴 자손의 신들이 그들을 구출하였느냐?
12 Did the gods of the nations keep safe those on whom my fathers sent destruction, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?
12 내 열조가 멸하신 열방 곧 고산과 하란과 레셉과 들라살에 있는 에덴 족속을 그 나라의 신들이 건졌느냐
13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?[x]MKJV: Where [is] the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and of Ivah? BBE: Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the town of Sepharvaim, of Hena and of Ivvah? KAV: 하맛 왕과 아르밧 왕과 스발와임 도시의 왕과 헤나와 이바의 왕들이 어디 있느냐? 하라, 하니라.
13 Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the town of Sepharvaim, of Hena and of Ivvah?
13 하맛 왕과 아르밧 왕과 스발와임성의 왕과 헤나와 아와의 왕들이 다 어디 있느냐 하라 하니라
14 And Hezekiahreceived the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.[x]MKJV: And Hezekiah received the letters from the hand of the messengers, and read it. And Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. BBE: And Hezekiah took the letter from the hands of those who had come with it; and after reading it, Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, opening the letter there before the Lord. KAV: ¶ 히스기야가 사자들의 손에서 편지를 받아 읽고는 {주}의 집에 올라가 그것을 {주} 앞에 펴 놓고
14 And Hezekiah took the letter from the hands of those who had come with it; and after reading it, Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, opening the letter there before the Lord.
14 히스기야가 사자의 손에서 편지를 받아보고 여호와의 전에 올라가서 그 편지를 여호와 앞에 펴 놓고
15 And Hezekiahprayedbefore the LORD, and said, O LORDGod of Israel, which dwellestbetween the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast madeheaven and earth.[x]MKJV: And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah and said, O Jehovah God of Israel, who dwells [between] the cherubs, You [are] God Himself, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made the heavens and the earth. BBE: And Hezekiah made his prayer to the Lord, saying, O Lord, the God of Israel, seated between the winged ones, you only are the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. 15 And Hezekiah made his prayer to the Lord, saying, O Lord, the God of Israel, seated between the winged ones, you only are the God of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.
15 그 앞에서 기도하여 가로되 그룹들 위에 계신 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와여 주는 천하 만국에 홀로 하나님이시라 주께서 천지를 조성하셨나이다
16LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the livingGod.[x]MKJV: LORD, bow down Your ear and hear. O LORD, open Your eyes and see, and hear the words of Sennacherib, who has sent him to taunt the living God. BBE: Let your ear be turned to us, O Lord, and let your eyes be open, O Lord, and see; take note of all the words of Sennacherib who has sent men to say evil against the living God. 16 Let your ear be turned to us, O Lord, and let your eyes be open, O Lord, and see; take note of all the words of Sennacherib who has sent men to say evil against the living God.
16 여호와여 귀를 기울여 들으소서 여호와여 눈을 떠서 보시옵소서 산헤립이 사신 하나님을 훼방하러 보낸 말을 들으시옵소서
17 Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,[x]MKJV: Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands, BBE: Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have made waste the nations and their lands, KAV: {주}여, 진실로 아시리아의 왕들이 민족들과 그들의 땅을 멸하고
17 Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have made waste the nations and their lands,
17 여호와여 앗수르 열왕이 과연 열방과 그 땅을 황폐케 하고
18 And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men'shands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.[x]MKJV: and have thrown their gods into the fire; for they [were] no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone, and they have destroyed them. BBE: And have given their gods to the fire; for they were no gods, but wood and stone, the work of men's hands; so they have given them to destruction. KAV: 또 그들의 신들을 불에 던졌사오니 그들은 신이 아니요, 사람의 손으로 만든 것 즉 나무와 돌이므로 그들이 그 신들을 멸하였나이다.
18 And have given their gods to the fire; for they were no gods, but wood and stone, the work of men's hands; so they have given them to destruction.

19 Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORDGod, even thou only.[x]MKJV: And now, O, LORD our God, I beseech You, save us out of his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You [are] the LORD God, and You only. BBE: But now, O Lord our God, give us salvation from his hands, so that it may be clear to all the kingdoms of the earth that you and only you, O Lord, are God. KAV: 그런즉, 오 {주} 우리 [하나님]이여, 이제 간청하건대 이제 우리를 그의 손에서 구원하옵소서. 그리하시면 땅의 모든 왕국이 주 곧 주는 유일한 {주} [하나님]인 줄 알리이다, 하니라.
19 But now, O Lord our God, give us salvation from his hands, so that it may be clear to all the kingdoms of the earth that you and only you, O Lord, are God.

20 Then Isaiah the son of Amozsent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORDGod of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacheribking of Assyria I have heard.[x]MKJV: And Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, So says Jehovah God of Israel, I have heard what you have prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria. BBE: Then Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying, The Lord, the God of Israel, says, The prayer which you have made to me against Sennacherib, king of Assyria, has come to my ears. KAV: ¶ 그때에 아모스의 아들 이사야가 히스기야에게 사람을 보내어 이르되, {주} 이스라엘의 [하나님]이 이같이 말하노라. 네가 아시리아 왕 산헤립을 대적하여 내게 기도한 것을 내가 들었노라.
20 Then Isaiah, the son of Amoz, sent to Hezekiah, saying, The Lord, the God of Israel, says, The prayer which you have made to me against Sennacherib, king of Assyria, has come to my ears.
20 아모스의 아들 이사야가 히스기야에게 기별하여 가로되 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 네가 앗수르 왕 산헤립 까닭에 내게 기도하는 것을 내가 들었노라 하셨나이다
21 This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.[x]MKJV: This [is] the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him: The virgin, the daughter of Zion, has despised you [and] laughed you to scorn. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you. BBE: This is the word which the Lord has said about him: In the eyes of the virgin daughter of Zion you are shamed and laughed at; the daughter of Jerusalem has made sport of you. KAV: {주}가 그에 관하여 한 말이 이러하니라. 처녀 시온의 딸이 너를 멸시하고 너를 비웃고 조롱하였으며 예루살렘의 딸이 너를 향해 자기 머리를 흔들었느니라.
21 This is the word which the Lord has said about him: In the eyes of the virgin daughter of Zion you are shamed and laughed at; the daughter of Jerusalem has made sport of you.
21 여호와께서 앗수르 왕에게 대하여 이같이 말씀하시기를 처녀 딸 시온이 너를 멸시하며 너를 비웃었으며 딸 예루살렘이 너를 향하여 머리를 흔들었느니라
22 Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exaltedthyvoice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the HolyOne of Israel.[x]MKJV: Whom have you mocked and blasphemed? And against whom have you exalted [your] voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Even against the Holy One of Israel! BBE: Against whom have you said evil and bitter things? against whom has your voice been loud and your eyes lifted up? even against the Holy One of Israel. KAV: 네가 누구를 모욕하고 모독하였느냐? 네가 누구를 향해 네 목소리를 높이고 네 눈을 높이 들었느냐? 이스라엘의 [거룩하신 이]를 향해 하였도다.
22 Against whom have you said evil and bitter things? against whom has your voice been loud and your eyes lifted up? even against the Holy One of Israel.
22 네가 누구를 꾸짖었으며 훼방하였느냐 누구를 향하여 소리를 높였으며 눈을 높이 떴느냐 이스라엘의 거룩한 자에게 그리하였도다
23By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariotsㆍ I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.[x]MKJV: You have mocked the Lord by your messengers, and have said, With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down its tall cedar trees, its choice fir trees. And I will enter into the lodgings of its borders, its densest forest; BBE: You have sent your servants with evil words against the Lord, and have said, With all my war-carriages I have come up to the top of the mountains, to the inmost parts of Lebanon; its tall cedars will be cut down, and the best trees of its woods; I will come up into his highest places, into his thick woods. KAV: 네가 네 사자들을 통해 [주]를 모욕하며 말하기를, 내가 많은 병거를 거느리고 산들의 높은 곳에, 레바논 옆에 올라갔으니 내가 그곳의 키 큰 백향목과 최상품 전나무를 베고 그의 경계가 있는 곳에 들어가며 그의 갈멜 숲에 들어가리라.
23 You have sent your servants with evil words against the Lord, and have said, With all my war-carriages I have come up to the top of the mountains, to the inmost parts of Lebanon; its tall cedars will be cut down, and the best trees of its woods; I will come up into his highest places, into his thick woods.
23 네가 사자로 주를 훼방하여 이르기를 내가 많은 병거를 거느리고 여러 산꼭대기에 올라가며 레바논 깊은 곳에 이르러 높은 백향목과 아름다운 잣나무를 베고 내가 그 지경 끝에 들어가며 그 동산의 무성한 수풀에 이르리라
24 I have digged and drunkstrangewaters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.[x]MKJV: I have dug and drunk foreign waters, and with the sole of my feet I have dried up all the rivers of Egypt. BBE: I have made water-holes and taken their waters, and with my foot I have made all the rivers of Egypt dry. KAV: 내가 땅을 파서 타국의 물을 마셨으며 에워싼 곳의 모든 강을 내 발바닥으로 말렸노라, 하였도다.

From days of old I fashioned it! Now I have caused it to come; that you should make fortified cities desolate heaps of ruins. BBE: Has it not come to your ears how I did it long before, purposing it in times long past? Now I have given effect to my design, so that by you strong towns might be turned into masses of broken walls. KAV: 내가 그 일을 행하였음을 네가 오래 전에 듣지 못하였느냐? 내가 그 일을 구상하였음을 옛날에 듣지 못하였느냐? 이제 내가 그 일이 이루어지게 하였나니 곧 네가 성벽을 두른 도시들을 황폐하게 하여 무너진 무더기가 되게 한 일이니라.
25 Has it not come to your ears how I did it long before, purposing it in times long past? Now I have given effect to my design, so that by you strong towns might be turned into masses of broken walls.
25 네가 듣지 못하였느냐 이 일은 내가 태초부터 행하였고 상고부터 정한바라 이제 내가 이루어 너로 견고한 성들을 멸하여 돌무더기가 되게 함이니라

26 This is why their townsmen had no power, they were broken and put to shame; they were like the grass of the field and the green plant, like grass on the house-tops.
26 그러므로 그 거한 백성의 힘이 약하여 두려워하며 놀랐나니 저희는 마치 들의 풀 같고 나물 같고 지붕의 풀 같고 자라기 전에 마른 곡초 같으니라

28 Because your wrath against me and your words of pride have come up to my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my cord in your lips, and I will make you go back by the way you came.

31 For from Jerusalem those who have been kept safe will go out, and those who are still living will go out of Mount Zion: by the fixed purpose of the Lord of armies this will be done.

32 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.[x]MKJV: So the LORD says this concerning the king of Assyria. 32 For this cause the Lord says about the king of Assyria, He will not come into this town, or send an arrow against it; he will not come before it with arms, or put up an earthwork against it;

And Esarhaddon his sonreigned in his stead.[x]MKJV: And it happened as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, struck him with the sword. And they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place. BBE: And it came about, when he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to death with the sword; and they went in flight into the land of Ararat. And Esar-haddon his son became king in his place. KAV: 그가 자기 신 니스록의 집에서 경배할 때에 그의 아들 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 그를 칼로 치고 아르메니아 땅으로 도망하매 그의 아들 에살핫돈이 그를 대신하여 통치하니라.

37 그 신 니스록의 묘에 경배할 때에 아드람멜렉과 사레셀이 저를 칼로 쳐 죽이고 아라랏 땅으로 도망하매 그 아들 에살핫돈이 대신하여 왕이 되니라
