6 In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and took Israel away to Assyria, placing them in Halah and in Habor on the river Gozan, and in the towns of the Medes.

11 Burning their offerings in all the high places, as those nations did whom the Lord sent away from before them; they did evil things, moving the Lord to wrath;

12 For they servedidols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.[x]MKJV: For they served the idols, of which the LORD had said to them, You shall not do this thing. 13 And he gave witness to Israel and Judah, by every prophet and seer, saying, Come back from your evil ways, and do my orders and keep my rules, and be guided by the law which I gave to your fathers and sent to you by my servants the prophets.

15 And they went against his rules, and the agreement which he made with their fathers, and his laws which he gave them; they gave themselves up to things without sense or value, and became foolish like the nations round them, of whom the Lord had said, Do not as they do.

16 And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, eventwocalves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and servedBaal.[x]MKJV: And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made molten images, two calves, for themselves. And they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. BBE: And turning their backs on all the orders which the Lord had given them, they made for themselves images of metal, and the image of Asherah, worshipping all the stars of heaven and becoming servants to Baal. 18 Therefore the LORD was veryangry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.[x]MKJV: So the LORD was very angry with Israel, and turned them away from His face; not one was left, only the tribe of Judah by itself. 21 For Israel was broken off from the family of David, and they made Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, king, who, driving them away from the laws of the Lord, made them do a great sin.

23 Till the Lord put Israel away from before his face, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was taken away from their land to Assyria, to this day.

And they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities. 24 Then the king of Assyria took men from Babylon and from Cuthah and Avva and Hamath and Sepharvaim, and put them in the towns of Samaria in place of the children of Israel; so they got Samaria for their heritage, living in its towns.

26 Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sentlions among them, and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the land.[x]MKJV: And they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, The nations which you have removed and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the manner of the God of the land. 26 So they said to the king of Assyria, The nations whom you have taken as prisoners and put in the towns of Samaria, have no knowledge of the way of the god of the land: so he has sent lions among them, causing their death, because they have no knowledge of his way.
26 그러므로 혹이 앗수르 왕에게 고하여 가로되 왕께서 사마리아 여러 성읍에 옮겨 거하게 하신 열방 사람이 그 땅 신의 법을 알지 못하므로 그 신이 사자들을 저희 가운데 보내매 저희를 죽였사오니 이는 저희가 그 땅 신의 법을 알지 못함이니이다
27 Then the king of Assyriacommanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.[x]MKJV: And the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Cause one of the priests whom you removed from there to go there. And they shall go and live there, and he shall teach them the way of the God of the land. BBE: Then the king of Assyria gave orders, saying, Send there one of the priests whom you took away, and let him be living there and teaching the people the way of the god of the land. KAV: 이에 아시리아 왕이 명령하여 이르되, 너희는 거기서 데려온 제사장들 중에서 한 사람을 거기로 데려가고 그들이 거기에 가서 거하게 하며 그가 그 땅의 신에 대한 관습을 그들에게 가르치게 하라, 하니라.
27 Then the king of Assyria gave orders, saying, Send there one of the priests whom you took away, and let him be living there and teaching the people the way of the god of the land.
27 앗수르 왕이 명하여 가로되 너희는 그곳에서 사로잡아 온 제사장 하나를 그곳으로 데려가되 저로 그곳에 가서 거하며 그 땅 신의 법으로 무리에게 가르치게 하라
28 Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samariacame and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.[x]MKJV: And one of the priests whom they had removed from Samaria came and lived in Bethel. And he taught them how they should fear the LORD. BBE: So one of the priests whom they had taken away as a prisoner from Samaria came back, and, living in Beth-el, became their teacher in the worship of the Lord. KAV: 이에 그들이 사마리아에서 사로잡아 간 제사장들 중에서 한 사람이 와서 벧엘에 거하며 그들에게 어떻게 {주}를 두려워해야 하는지를 가르쳤더라.
28 So one of the priests whom they had taken away as a prisoner from Samaria came back, and, living in Beth-el, became their teacher in the worship of the Lord.
28 이에 사마리아에서 사로잡혀간 제사장 중 하나가 와서 벧엘에 거하며 백성에게 어떻게 여호와 경외할 것을 가르쳤더라
29 Howbeit every nationmadegods of their own, and putthem in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.[x]MKJV: And every nation made gods of their own, and put [them] in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived. BBE: And every nation made gods for themselves, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in the towns where they were living. KAV: 그러나 각 민족이 자기들의 신들을 만들어 사마리아 사람들이 만든 산당들의 집들에 두되 각 민족이 자기들이 거하던 도시들에서 그와 같이 하여
29 And every nation made gods for themselves, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in the towns where they were living.
29 그러나 각 민족이 각기 자기의 신상들을 만들어 사마리아 사람의 지은 여러 산당에 두되 각 민족이 자기의 거한 성읍에서 그렇게 하여
30 And the men of BabylonmadeSuccothbenoth, and the men of CuthmadeNergal, and the men of HamathmadeAshima,[x]MKJV: And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, BBE: The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, KAV: 바빌론 사람들은 숙곳브놋을 만들고 구드 사람들은 네르갈을 만들며 하맛 사람들은 아시마를 만들고
30 The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
30 바벨론 사람들은 숙곳브놋을 만들었고 굿 사람들은 네르갈을 만들었고 하맛 사람들은 아시마를 만들었고
31 And the AvitesmadeNibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvitesburnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.[x]MKJV: and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their sons with fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim. BBE: The Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites gave their children to be burned in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. KAV: 아바 사람들은 닙하스와 다르닥을 만들며 스발와임 사람들은 자기 아이들을 불에 태워 스발와임의 신들인 아드람멜렉과 아남멜렉에게 드렸더라.
31 The Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites gave their children to be burned in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
31 아와 사람들은 닙하스와 다르닥을 만들었고 스발와임 사람들은 그 자녀를 불살라 그 신 아드람멜렉과 아남멜렉에게 드렸으며
32 So they feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.[x]MKJV: So they feared the LORD, and made to themselves, of the lowest of them, priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. BBE: So they went on worshipping the Lord, and made for themselves, from among all the people, priests for the high places, to make offerings for them in the houses of the high places. KAV: 이처럼 그들이 {주}를 두려워하여 자기들을 위해 자기들 중에서 가장 천한 자들을 취하여 산당들의 제사장으로 삼았더니 이들이 산당들의 집들에서 그들을 위해 희생물을 드리니라.
32 So they went on worshipping the Lord, and made for themselves, from among all the people, priests for the high places, to make offerings for them in the houses of the high places.
32 저희가 또 여호와를 경외하여 자기 중에서 사람을 산당의 제사장으로 택하여 그 산당에서 자기를 위하여 제사를 드리게 하니라
33 They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.[x]MKJV: They feared the LORD and served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations whom they removed from there. BBE: They gave worship to the Lord, but they gave honour to their gods like the nations did from whom they had been taken as prisoners. KAV: 그들이 {주}를 두려워하고 또 어디서부터 민족들을 사로잡아 왔든지 그 민족들의 관습대로 자기들의 신들을 섬겼더라.

34 So to this day they go on in their old ways, not worshipping the Lord or keeping his orders or his ways or the law and the rule which the Lord gave to the children of Jacob, to whom he gave the name Israel;

35 With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them, saying, Ye shall not fearothergods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:[x]MKJV: And the LORD had made a covenant and charged them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them, BBE: And the Lord made an agreement with them and gave them orders, saying, You are to have no other gods; you are not to give worship to them or be their servants or make them offerings: KAV: 전에 {주}께서 야곱의 자손과 언약을 맺으시고 그들에게 명하여 이르시되, 너희는 다른 신들을 두려워하지 말고 그들에게 절하지 말며 그들을 섬기지 말고 그들에게 희생물을 드리지 말며
35 And the Lord made an agreement with them and gave them orders, saying, You are to have no other gods; you are not to give worship to them or be their servants or make them offerings:

36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with greatpower and a stretched outarm, him shall ye fear, and him shall ye worship, and to him shall ye do sacrifice.[x]MKJV: but the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched-out arm, you shall fear Him, and you shall worship Him, and you shall do sacrifice to Him. BBE: But the Lord, who took you out of the land of Egypt with his great power and his outstretched arm, he is your God, to whom you are to give worship and make offerings: KAV: 오직 큰 권능과 뻗은 팔로 너희를 이집트에서 데리고 올라온 {주} 만 너희가 두려워하여 그에게 경배하고 그에게 희생물을 드리라.
36 But the Lord, who took you out of the land of Egypt with his great power and his outstretched arm, he is your God, to whom you are to give worship and make offerings:

And you shall not fear other gods. BBE: And the rules and the orders and the law which he put in writing for you, you are to keep and do for ever; you are to have no other gods. KAV: 또 그가 너희를 위하여 기록한 법규와 규례와 율법과 명령을 너희가 지켜 영원히 행하고 다른 신들을 두려워하지 말며

BBE: And you are to give worship to the Lord your God; for it is he who will give you salvation from the hands of all who are against you. 40 Howbeit they did not hearken, but they did after their formermanner.[x]MKJV: But they did not listen, but they followed after their former way. BBE: But they gave no attention, but went on in their old way. KAV: 그들이 귀를 기울이지 아니하고 자기들의 예전 관습대로 행하였더라.

41 So these nationsfeared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children'schildren: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.[x]MKJV: And it happened, these nations feared the LORD, and they served their graven images, both their sons and their sons' sons, as their fathers did, they do until this day. BBE: So these nations, worshipping the Lord, still were servants to the images they had made; their children and their children's children did the same; as their fathers did, so do they, to this day. KAV: 이와 같이 이 민족들이 곧 그들의 자손들과 그들의 자손들의 자손들이 {주}를 두려워하고 또 자기들의 새긴 형상들을 섬겼더라. 그들이 자기 조상들이 행한 대로 이 날까지 행하느니라.
41 So these nations, worshipping the Lord, still were servants to the images they had made; their children and their children's children did the same; as their fathers did, so do they, to this day.
41 그 여러 민족이 여호와를 경외하고 또 그 아로새긴 우상을 섬기더니 그 자자 손손이 그 열조의 행한 것을 좇아 오늘까지 그대로 하니라
