2 He was twenty and fiveyearsold when he began to reign, and reignedtwenty and nineyears in Jerusalem. 6 But he did not put their children to death; for the orders of the Lord recorded in the book of the law of Moses say, The fathers are not to be put to death for the children, or the children for their fathers; but a man is to be put to death for the sin which he himself has done.

7 He put to the sword twelve thousand men of Edom in the Valley of Salt, and took Sela in war, naming it Joktheel, as it is to this day.

9 And Jehoash the king of Israelsent to Amaziahking of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanonsent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wildbeast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.[x]MKJV: And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle which [was] in Lebanon sent to the cedar in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son for a wife. 9 And Jehoash, king of Israel, sent to Amaziah, king of Judah, saying, The thorn-tree in Lebanon sent to the cedar in Lebanon, saying, Give your daughter to my son for a wife: and a beast from the woodland in Lebanon went by, crushing the thorn under his feet.
9 이스라엘 왕 요아스가 유다 왕 아마샤에게 보내어 이르되 레바논 가시나무가 레바논 백향목에게 보내어 이르기를 네 딸을 내 아들에게 주어 아내를 삼게 하라 하였더니 레바논 들짐승이 지나가다가 그 가시나무를 짓밟았느니라
10 Thou hast indeedsmittenEdom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: gloryof this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thyhurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?[x]MKJV: You have indeed stricken Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Rejoice and stay at home, for why should you meddle to [your] harm, so that you should fall, you and Judah with you? BBE: It is true that you have overcome Edom and your heart is uplifted; let that glory be enough for you, and keep in your country; why do you make causes of trouble, putting yourself, and Judah with you, in danger of downfall? KAV: 네가 참으로 에돔을 쳤으므로 네 마음이 너를 높였으니 이것으로 영광을 삼고 집에나 거하라. 어찌 네가 화를 입으려고 간섭하여 너와 또 너와 함께한 유다가 쓰러지려 하느냐? 하였으나
10 It is true that you have overcome Edom and your heart is uplifted; let that glory be enough for you, and keep in your country; why do you make causes of trouble, putting yourself, and Judah with you, in danger of downfall?

11 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoashking of Israel went up; and he and Amaziahking of Judahlooked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.[x]MKJV: But Amaziah would not hear. 11 But Amaziah gave no attention. So Jehoash, king of Israel, went up, and he and Amaziah, king of Judah, came face to face at Beth-shemesh, which is in Judah.

13 And Jehoash, king of Israel, made Amaziah, king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, prisoner at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and had the wall of Jerusalem pulled down from the doorway of Ephraim to the door in the angle, four hundred cubits.

15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash, and his power, and how he went to war with Amaziah, king of Judah, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel?

16 And Jehoashslept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his sonreigned in his stead.[x]MKJV: And Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. And Jeroboam his son reigned in his place. 24 And he didthat which wasevil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.[x]MKJV: And he did the evil in the sight of the LORD. 26 For the LORDsaw the affliction of Israel, that it wasverybitter: for there wasnot any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.[x]MKJV: For the LORD had seen the affliction of Israel [to be] very bitter. 26 For the Lord saw how bitter was the trouble of Israel, and that everyone was cut off, he who was shut up and he who went free, and that Israel had no helper.
26 이는 여호와께서 이스라엘의 고난이 심하여 매인 자도 없고 놓인 자도 없고 이스라엘을 도울 자도 없음을 보셨고
27 And the LORDsaid not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.[x]MKJV: And the LORD did not say that He would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, but He saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Jehoash. KAV: {주}께서 친히 이스라엘의 이름을 하늘 아래에서 지우리라고 말씀하지 아니하시고 요아스의 아들 여로보암의 손으로 그들을 구원하셨더라.
27 And the Lord had not said that the name of Israel was to be taken away from the earth; but he gave them a saviour in Jeroboam, the son of Joash.
27 여호와께서 또 이스라엘의 이름을 도말하여 천하에 없이 하겠다고도 아니하셨으므로 요아스의 아들 여로보암의 손으로 구원하심이었더라
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recoveredDamascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chroniclesof the kings of Israel?[x]MKJV: And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus and Hamath, of Judah, for Israel, [are] they not written in the Book of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Israel? BBE: Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all he did, and his power, and how he went to war with Damascus, causing the wrath of the Lord to be turned away from Israel, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel? KAV: ¶ 이제 여로보암의 남은 행적과 그가 행한 모든 일과 그의 권력 곧 그가 싸운 일과 다마스커스를 회복한 일과 유다에 속하였던 하맛을 이스라엘을 위해 회복한 일은 이스라엘 왕들의 연대기 책에 기록되어 있지 아니하냐?
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all he did, and his power, and how he went to war with Damascus, causing the wrath of the Lord to be turned away from Israel, are they not recorded in the book of the history of the kings of Israel?
28 여로보암의 남은 사적과 모든 행한 일과 그 권력으로 싸운 일과 다메섹을 회복한 일과 이전에 유다에 속하였던 하맛을 이스라엘에 돌린 일은 이스라엘 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐
29 And Jeroboamslept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his sonreigned in his stead.[x]MKJV: And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, with the kings of Israel. And his son Zachariah reigned in his place. BBE: And Jeroboam went to rest with his fathers, and was put into the earth with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son became king in his place. KAV: 여로보암이 자기 조상들 곧 이스라엘 왕들과 함께 잠드니 그의 아들 사가랴가 그를 대신하여 통치하니라.

29 여로보암이 그 열조 이스라엘 왕들과 함께 자고 그 아들 스가랴가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
