1 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he was ruling in Jerusalem for sixteen years; he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord, like David his father:

3 More than this, he had offerings burned in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and made his children go through fire, copying the disgusting ways of the nations whom the Lord had sent out of the land before the children of Israel.

5 So the Lord his God gave him up into the hands of the king of Aram; and they overcame him, and took away a great number of his people as prisoners to Damascus. Then he was given into the hands of the king of Israel, who sent great destruction on him.
5 그러므로 그 하나님 여호와께서 아람 왕의 손에 붙이시매 저희가 쳐서 심히 많은 무리를 사로잡아 가지고 다메섹으로 갔으며 또 이스라엘 왕의 손에 붙이시매 저가 쳐서 크게 살륙하였으니

7 And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slewMaaseiah the king'sson, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanahthat wasnext to the king.[x]MKJV: And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the king's son, and Azrikam the governor of the house, and Elkanah [who was] next to the king. 7 And Zichri, a great fighting-man of Ephraim, put to death Maaseiah, the king's son, and Azrikam, the controller of his house, and Elkanah, who was second in authority to the king.

8 And the children of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundredthousand, women, sons, and daughters, and took also awaymuchspoil from them, and brought the spoil to Samaria.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel carried away captive two hundred thousand of their brothers, women, and daughters, and also took away much plunder from them and brought the plunder to Samaria. 9 But a prophet of the Lord was there, named Oded; and he went out in front of the army which was coming into Samaria and said to them, Truly, because the Lord, the God of your fathers, was angry with Judah, he gave them up into your hands, and you have put them to death in an outburst of wrath stretching up to heaven.
9 그 곳에 여호와의 선지자가 있는데 이름은 오뎃이라 저가 사마리아로 돌아오는 군대를 영접하고 저희에게 이르되 너희 열조의 하나님 여호와께서 유다를 진노하신고로 너희 손에 붙이셨거늘 너희 노기가 충천하여 살륙하고
10 And now ye purpose to keep under the children of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen unto you: but are there not with you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God?[x]MKJV: And now you intend to keep under the sons of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmen and bondwomen to you. [Are there] not with you, even with you, sins against the LORD your God? BBE: And now your purpose is to keep the children of Judah and Jerusalem as men-servants and women-servants under your yoke: but are there no sins against the Lord your God to be seen among yourselves? KAV: 이제 또 너희가 유다와 예루살렘 자손을 밑에 두어 너희를 위해 남자 노예와 여자 노예로 삼으려 하는도다. 그러나 너희에게는 곧 너희에게는 {주} 너희 [하나님]께 지은 죄들이 없느냐?
10 And now your purpose is to keep the children of Judah and Jerusalem as men-servants and women-servants under your yoke: but are there no sins against the Lord your God to be seen among yourselves?
10 이제 너희가 또 유다와 예루살렘 백성들을 압제하여 노예를 삼고자 생각하는도다 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와께 범죄함이 없느냐
11 Now hear me therefore, and deliver the captives again, which ye have taken captive of your brethren: for the fiercewrath of the LORDis upon you.[x]MKJV: And now hear me, and deliver again the captives which you have taken captive of your brothers. For the fierce wrath of the LORD [is] on you. BBE: And now give ear to me, and send back the prisoners whom you have taken from your brothers: for the wrath of the Lord is burning against you. KAV: 그런즉 이제 내 말을 듣고 너희가 너희 형제들 중에서 포로로 사로잡아 온 포로들을 다시 넘겨주라. {주}의 맹렬한 진노가 너희 위에 있느니라, 하니라.
11 And now give ear to me, and send back the prisoners whom you have taken from your brothers: for the wrath of the Lord is burning against you.

12 Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them that came from the war,[x]MKJV: And certain of the heads of the sons of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stood up against them who came from the war. BBE: Then certain of the heads of the children of Ephraim, Azariah, the son of Johanan, Berechiah, the son of Meshillemoth Jehizkiah, the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, put themselves against those who had come from the war, KAV: 그때에 에브라임 자손의 우두머리 중에서 몇 사람 곧 요하난의 아들 아사랴와 무실레못의 아들 베레기야와 살룸의 아들 여히스기야와 하들래의 아들 아마사가 일어서서 전쟁에서 돌아오는 자들을 막으며

13 And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither: for whereas we have offended against the LORDalready, ye intend to addmore to our sins and to our trespass: for our trespass is great, and there isfiercewrath against Israel.[x]MKJV: And they said to them, You shall not bring the captives here. For we have offended the LORD, and you intend to add to our sins and to our trespass. For our trespass is great, and [there is] fierce wrath against Israel. BBE: And said to them, You are not to let these prisoners come here; for what you are designing to do will be a cause of sin against the Lord to us, making even greater our sin and our wrongdoing, which now are great enough, and his wrath is burning against Israel. 13 And said to them, You are not to let these prisoners come here; for what you are designing to do will be a cause of sin against the Lord to us, making even greater our sin and our wrongdoing, which now are great enough, and his wrath is burning against Israel.

14 So the armed menleft the captives and the spoilbefore the princes and all the congregation.[x]MKJV: And the armed men left the captives and the plunder before the rulers and all the congregation. 15 And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the captives, and with the spoilclothed all that were naked among them, and arrayed them, and shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm treesㆍ, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.[x]MKJV: And the men who were called by name rose up and took the captives and clothed all that were naked among them with the plunder, and dressed them, and shod them, and made them eat and drink, and anointed them, and led the feeble ones on asses, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brothers. 15 And those men who have been named went up and took the prisoners, clothing those among them who were uncovered, with things from the goods which had been taken in the war, and putting robes on them and shoes on their feet; and they gave them food and drink and oil for their bodies, and seating all the feeble among them on asses, they took them to Jericho, the town of palm-trees, to their people, and then went back to Samaria.
15 이 위에 이름이 기록된 자들이 일어나서 포로를 맞고 노략하여 온 중에서 옷을 취하여 벗은 자에게 입히며 신을 신기며 먹이고 마시우며 기름을 바르고 그 약한 자는 나귀에 태워 데리고 종려나무 성 여리고에 이르러 그 형제에게 돌린 후에 사마리아로 돌아갔더라

18 And the Philistines, forcing their way into the towns of the lowlands and the south of Judah, had taken Beth-shemesh and Aijalon and Gederoth and Soco, with their daughter-towns, as well as Timnah and Gimzo and their daughter-towns, and were living there.

19 For the LORDbroughtJudahlow because of Ahazking of Israel; for he madeJudahnaked, and transgressedsore against the LORD.[x]MKJV: For the LORD brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel. For he loosed [immorality] in Judah, and sinned grievously against the LORD. BBE: For the Lord made Judah low, because of Ahaz, king of Israel; for he had given up all self-control in Judah, sinning greatly against the Lord. KAV: 이는 이스라엘 왕 아하스가 유다로 하여금 벌거벗게 하고 또 {주}께 크게 죄를 지었으므로 {주}께서 그로 인하여 유다를 낮추셨기 때문이더라.
19 For the Lord made Judah low, because of Ahaz, king of Israel; for he had given up all self-control in Judah, sinning greatly against the Lord.
19 이는 이스라엘 왕 아하스가 유다에서 망령되이 행하여 여호와께 크게 범죄하였으므로 여호와께서 유다를 낮추심이라
20 And Tilgathpilneserking of Assyriacame unto him, and distressed him, but strengthened him not.[x]MKJV: And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came to him and troubled him, but did not strengthen him. BBE: Then Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, came to him, but was a cause of trouble and not of strength to him. KAV: 아시리아 왕 딜갓빌네셀이 그에게 이르러 그를 괴롭게 하고 그를 강하게 하지 아니하였으니

21 For Ahaz took away a portionout of the house of the LORD, and out of the house of the king, and of the princes, and gaveit unto the king of Assyria: but he helped him not.[x]MKJV: For Ahaz took away a portion [of] the house of the LORD, and [of] the house of the king, and [of] the rulers, and gave [it] to the king of Assyria. But [it was] no help to him. 21 For Ahaz took a part of the wealth from the house of the Lord, and from the house of the king and of the great men, and gave it to the king of Assyria; but it was no help to him.

22 And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is thatkingAhaz.[x]MKJV: And in the time of his distress he trespassed even more against the LORD, this king Ahaz. BBE: And in the time of his trouble, this same King Ahaz did even more evil against the Lord. KAV: ¶ 그는 고난 당할 때에 {주}께 더욱더 범법을 행하였는데 이 사람은 곧 아하스 왕이니라.
22 And in the time of his trouble, this same King Ahaz did even more evil against the Lord.

23 For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syriahelp them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. And he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will sacrifice to them so that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel. 23 For he made offerings to the gods of Damascus, who were attacking him, and said, Because the gods of the kings of Aram are giving them help, I will make offerings to them so that they may give me help. But they were the cause of his downfall, and of that of all Israel.
23 자기를 친 다메섹 신들에게 제사하여 가로되 아람 열왕의 신들이 저희를 도왔으니 나도 그 신에게 제사하여 나를 돕게 하리라 하였으나 그 신이 아하스와 온 이스라엘을 망케 하였더라
24 And Ahaz gathered together the vessels of the house of God, and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD, and he made him altars in every corner of Jerusalem.[x]MKJV: And Ahaz gathered the vessels of the house of God and cut in pieces the vessels of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of the LORD. 24 And Ahaz got together the vessels of the house of God, cutting up all the vessels of the house of God, and shutting the doors of the Lord's house; and he made altars in every part of Jerusalem.
24 아하스가 하나님의 전의 기구들을 모아 훼파하고 또 여호와의 전문들을 닫고 예루살렘 구석마다 단을 쌓고
25 And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto othergods, and provoked to anger the LORDGod of his fathers.[x]MKJV: And in each separate city of Judah he made high places to burn incense to other gods, and provoked to anger the LORD God of his fathers. BBE: And in every town of Judah he made high places where perfumes were burned to other gods, awaking the wrath of the Lord, the God of his fathers. 27 And Ahazslept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem: but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his sonreigned in his stead.[x]MKJV: And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, in Jerusalem. But they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel. And his son Hezekiah reigned in his place. BBE: And Ahaz went to rest with his fathers, and they put his body into the earth in Jerusalem; but they did not put him in the resting-place of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son became king in his place. 27 And Ahaz went to rest with his fathers, and they put his body into the earth in Jerusalem; but they did not put him in the resting-place of the kings of Israel: and Hezekiah his son became king in his place.
27 아하스가 그 열조와 함께 자매 이스라엘 열왕의 묘실에 들이지 아니하고 예루살렘성에 장사하였더라 그 아들 히스기야가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
