2 He reignedthreeyears in Jerusalem. His mother'sname also wasMichaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.[x]MKJV: He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also [was] Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. BBE: He was king in Jerusalem for three years; his mother's name was Maacah, the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. KAV: 예루살렘에서 삼 년 동안 통치하니라. 그의 어머니의 이름 역시 기브아 사람 우리엘의 딸 미가야더라. 아비야와 여로보암 사이에 싸움이 있었는데
2 He was king in Jerusalem for three years; his mother's name was Maacah, the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.
2 예루살렘에서 삼년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 미가야라 기브아 사람 우리엘의 딸이더라 아비야가 여로보암으로 더불어 싸울쌔
3 And Abijahset the battle in array with an army of valiant men of war, evenfourhundredthousandchosenmen: Jeroboam also set the battle in array against him with eighthundredthousandchosenmen, being mighty men of valour.[x]MKJV: And Abijah set the battle in order with an army of mighty men of war, four hundred thousand chosen men. Jeroboam also set the battle in order against him with eight hundred thousand chosen men, mighty men of valor. BBE: And Abijah went out to the fight with an army of men of war, four hundred thousand of his best men; and Jeroboam put his forces in line against him, eight hundred thousand of his best men of war. KAV: 아비야는 싸움에 용맹한 군사 곧 택한 사람 사십만 명과 함께 전투대형을 갖추고 여로보암도 강한 용사 곧 택한 사람 팔십만 명과 함께 그를 치려고 전투대형을 갖추니라.
3 And Abijah went out to the fight with an army of men of war, four hundred thousand of his best men; and Jeroboam put his forces in line against him, eight hundred thousand of his best men of war.
3 아비야는 택한바 싸움에 용맹한 군사 사십만으로 싸움을 예비하였고 여로보암은 택한바 큰 용사 팔십만으로 대진한지라
4 And Abijah stood up upon mountZemaraim, which is in mountEphraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam, and all Israel;[x]MKJV: And Abijah stood up on mount Zemaraim, in the hills of Ephraim, and said, Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel. BBE: And Abijah took up his position on Mount Zemaraim, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said, Give ear to me, O Jeroboam and all Israel: KAV: ¶ 아비야가 에브라임 산에 있는 스마라임 산 위에 서서 이르되, 너 여로보암과 온 이스라엘아, 내 말을 들으라.
4 And Abijah took up his position on Mount Zemaraim, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and said, Give ear to me, O Jeroboam and all Israel:
4 아비야가 에브라임산 중 스마라임산 위에 서서 가로되 여로보암과 이스라엘 무리들아 다 들으라
5 Ought ye not to know that the LORDGod of Israelgave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?[x]MKJV: Should you not know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? BBE: Is it not clear to you that the Lord, the God of Israel, gave the rule over Israel to David and to his sons for ever, by an agreement made with salt? KAV: {주} 이스라엘의 [하나님]께서 소금 언약으로 이스라엘의 왕권을 영원토록 다윗과 그의 아들들에게 주신 줄을 너희가 마땅히 알아야 하지 아니하겠느냐?
5 Is it not clear to you that the Lord, the God of Israel, gave the rule over Israel to David and to his sons for ever, by an agreement made with salt?
5 이스라엘 하나님 여호와께서 소금 언약으로 이스라엘 나라를 영원히 다윗과 그 자손에게 주신 것을 너희가 알것이 아니냐
6 Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, is risen up, and hath rebelled against his lord.[x]MKJV: Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, has risen up and has rebelled against his lord. BBE: But Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon, the son of David, took up arms against his lord. KAV: 그러하거늘 다윗의 아들 솔로몬의 신하 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 일어나 자기 주를 배반하였으며
6 But Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon, the son of David, took up arms against his lord.
6 다윗의 아들 솔로몬의 신복 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 일어나 그 주를 배반하고
7 And there are gathered unto him vainmen, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderheartedㆍ, and could not withstandthem.[x]MKJV: And there are gathered to him vain men, the sons of Belial, and have made themselves strong against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, and Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted and could not withstand them. BBE: And certain foolish and good-for-nothing men were joined with him, and made themselves strong against Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, when he was young and untested and not able to keep them back. KAV: 또 허영심 많은 자들과 벨리알의 자손들이 그에게 모여 자기들의 세력을 강화하고 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 대적하였으나 그때에 르호보암이 어리고 마음이 연약하여 그들을 능히 막지 못하였느니라.
7 And certain foolish and good-for-nothing men were joined with him, and made themselves strong against Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, when he was young and untested and not able to keep them back.
7 난봉과 비류가 모여 좇으므로 스스로 강하게 하여 솔로몬의 아들 르호보암을 대적하나 그 때에 르호보암이 어리고 마음이 연약하여 능히 막지 못하였었느니라
8 And now ye think to withstand the kingdomof the LORD in the hand of the sons of David; and ye be a greatmultitude, and there are with you goldencalves, which Jeroboammade you for gods.[x]MKJV: And now you think to withstand the kingdom of the LORD in the hands of the sons of David. And you [are] a great multitude, and there [are] with you golden calves which Jeroboam made you for gods. BBE: And now it is your purpose to put yourselves against the authority which the Lord has put into the hands of the sons of David, and you are a very great number, and you have with you the gold oxen which Jeroboam made to be your gods. KAV: 그런데 이제 너희가 또 다윗의 아들들의 손에 있는 {주}의 왕국을 대적하려고 생각하는도다. 너희는 큰 무리요, 또 여로보암이 너희를 위하여 신으로 만든 금송아지들이 너희와 함께 있도다.
8 And now it is your purpose to put yourselves against the authority which the Lord has put into the hands of the sons of David, and you are a very great number, and you have with you the gold oxen which Jeroboam made to be your gods.
8 이제 너희가 또 다윗 자손의 손으로 다스리는 여호와의 나라를 대적하려 하는도다 너희는 큰 무리요 또 여로보암이 너희를 위하여 신으로 만든 금송아지가 너희와 함께 있도다
9 Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of otherlands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrateㆍ himself with a youngㆍbullock and sevenrams, the same may be a priest of them that arenogods.[x]MKJV: Have you not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made priests to yourselves like the peoples of the lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams, he may be a priest of [those who are] no gods. BBE: And after driving out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron and the Levites, have you not made priests for yourselves as the people of other lands do? so that anyone who comes to make himself priest by offering an ox or seven sheep, may be a priest of those who are no gods. KAV: 너희가 아론의 아들들 곧 {주}의 제사장들과 레위 사람들을 쫓아내고 너희를 위하여 다른 땅의 민족들의 관습을 따라 제사장들을 세우지 아니하였느냐? 그러므로 누구든지 어린 수소 한 마리와 숫양 일곱 마리를 가지고 와서 자신을 구분하기만 하면 신들이 아닌 자들의 제사장이 될 수 있도다.
9 And after driving out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron and the Levites, have you not made priests for yourselves as the people of other lands do? so that anyone who comes to make himself priest by offering an ox or seven sheep, may be a priest of those who are no gods.
9 너희가 아론 자손 된 여호와의 제사장과 레위 사람을 쫓아내고 이방 백성의 풍속을 좇아 제사장을 삼지 아니하였느냐 무론 누구든지 수송아지 하나와 수양 일곱을 끌고 와서 장립을 받고자하는 자마다 허무한 신의 제사장이 될 수 있도다
10 But as for us, the LORDis our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, which minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Leviteswait upon theirbusiness:[x]MKJV: But as for us, Jehovah [is] our God, and we have not forsaken Him. And the priests who minister to the LORD are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in the work. BBE: But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not been turned away from him; we have priests who do the work of the Lord, even the sons of Aaron and the Levites in their places; KAV: 그러나 우리로 말하건대 {주}께서 우리의 [하나님]이시니 우리가 그분을 버리지 아니하였고 또 {주}를 섬기는 제사장들은 아론의 아들들이요, 또 레위 사람들이 그들의 일을 시중들며
10 But as for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not been turned away from him; we have priests who do the work of the Lord, even the sons of Aaron and the Levites in their places;
10 우리에게는 여호와께서 우리 하나님이 되시니 그를 우리가 배반치 아니하였고 여호와를 섬기는 제사장들이 있으니 아론의 자손이요 또 레위 사람이 수종을 들어
11 And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweetincense: the showbreadalsoset they in order upon the puretable; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps thereof, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but ye have forsaken him.[x]MKJV: And they burn to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense, and the showbread on the pure table, and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening. For we keep the charge of the LORD our God. But you have forsaken Him. BBE: By whom burned offerings and perfumes are sent up in smoke before the Lord every morning and every evening; and they put out the holy bread on its table and the gold support for the lights with its lights burning every evening; for we keep the orders given to us by the Lord our God, but you have gone away from him. KAV: 그들이 아침저녁마다 {주}를 위해 태우는 희생물과 향기로운 향을 태우고 깨끗한 상에 보여 주는 빵을 놓으며 또 금 등잔대가 있어 그것의 등잔들에 저녁마다 불을 붙이나니 우리는 {주} 우리 [하나님]의 책무를 지키나 너희는 그분을 버렸느니라.
11 By whom burned offerings and perfumes are sent up in smoke before the Lord every morning and every evening; and they put out the holy bread on its table and the gold support for the lights with its lights burning every evening; for we keep the orders given to us by the Lord our God, but you have gone away from him.
11 조석으로 여호와 앞에 번제를 드리며 분향하며 또 깨끗한 상에 진설병을 놓고 또 금 등대가 있어 그 등에 저녁마다 불을 켜나니 우리는 우리 하나님 여호와의 계명을 지키나 너희는 그를 배반하였느니라
12 And, behold, God himself is with us for ourcaptain, and his priests with soundingtrumpets to cry alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight ye not against the LORDGod of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.[x]MKJV: And behold, God Himself [is] with us as Commander, and His priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against the LORD God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper! BBE: And now God is with us at our head, and his priests with their loud horns sounding against you. O children of Israel, do not make war on the Lord, the God of your fathers, for it will not go well for you. KAV: 보라, [하나님]께서 친히 우리와 함께하사 우리의 대장이 되시고 그분의 제사장들도 너희를 치려고 나팔을 불어 경고의 소리를 내느니라. 오 이스라엘 자손아, 너희는 {주} 너희 조상들의 [하나님]과 싸우지 말라. 너희가 형통하지 못하리라, 하니라.
12 And now God is with us at our head, and his priests with their loud horns sounding against you. O children of Israel, do not make war on the Lord, the God of your fathers, for it will not go well for you.
12 하나님이 우리와 함께 하사 우리의 머리가 되시고 그 제사장들도 우리와 함께하여 경고의 나팔을 불어 너희를 공격하느니라 이스라엘 자손들아 너희 열조의 하나님 여호와와 싸우지 말라 너희가 형통치 못하리라
13 But Jeroboam caused an ambushment to comeaboutbehind them: so they were beforeJudah, and the ambushmentwasbehind them.[x]MKJV: But Jeroboam caused an ambush to come around behind them, so that they were in front of Judah, and the ambush [was] behind them. BBE: But Jeroboam had put some of his men to make a surprise attack on them from the back, so some were facing Judah and others were stationed secretly at their back. KAV: ¶ 그러나 여로보암이 복병들을 그들의 뒤로 오게 하였으므로 저들이 유다 앞에 있었고 복병들이 유다 사람들 뒤에 있었더라.
13 But Jeroboam had put some of his men to make a surprise attack on them from the back, so some were facing Judah and others were stationed secretly at their back.
13 여로보암이 유다의 뒤를 둘러 복병하였으므로 그 앞에는 이스라엘 사람이 있고 그 뒤에는 복병이 있는지라
14 And when Judah looked back, behold, the battlewasbefore and behind: and they cried unto the LORD, and the priestssounded with the trumpets.[x]MKJV: And Judah turned, and, behold, the battle [was] before and behind. And they cried to the LORD, and the priests sounded with the trumpets. BBE: And Judah, turning their faces, saw that they were being attacked in front and at the back; and they gave a cry for help to the Lord, while the priests were sounding their horns. KAV: 유다가 뒤를 보니, 보라, 앞뒤에 싸움이 있으므로 그들이 {주}께 부르짖고 제사장들은 나팔을 부니라.
14 And Judah, turning their faces, saw that they were being attacked in front and at the back; and they gave a cry for help to the Lord, while the priests were sounding their horns.
14 유다 사람이 돌이켜 보고 자기 앞 뒤의 적병을 인하여 여호와께 부르짖고 제사장은 나팔을 부니라
15 Then the men of Judah gave a shout: and as the men of Judahshouted, it came to pass, that GodsmoteJeroboam and all IsraelbeforeAbijah and Judah.[x]MKJV: And the men of Judah shouted. And it happened as the men of Judah shouted, God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. BBE: And the men of Judah gave a loud cry; and at their cry, God put fear into Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. KAV: 그때에 유다 사람들이 소리를 지르매 유다 사람들이 소리를 지를 때에 [하나님]께서 여로보암과 온 이스라엘을 아비야와 유다 앞에서 치시니
15 And the men of Judah gave a loud cry; and at their cry, God put fear into Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.
15 유다 사람이 소리 지르매 유다 사람의 소리 지를 때에 하나님이 여로보암과 온 이스라엘을 아비야와 유다 앞에서 쳐서 패하게 하시니
16 And the children of IsraelfledbeforeJudah: and Goddelivered them into their hand.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel fled before Judah. And God delivered them into their hand. BBE: And the children of Israel went in flight before Judah, and God gave them up into their hands. KAV: 이스라엘 자손이 유다 앞에서 도망하더라. [하나님]께서 그들을 유다의 손에 넘겨주시므로
16 And the children of Israel went in flight before Judah, and God gave them up into their hands.
16 이스라엘 자손이 유다 앞에서 도망하는지라 하나님이 그 손에 붙이신고로
17 And Abijah and his peopleslew them with a greatslaughter: so there fell downslain of Israelfivehundredthousandchosenmen.[x]MKJV: And Abijah and his people killed them with a great slaughter. And there fell down dead five hundred thousand chosen men of Israel. BBE: And Abijah and his people put them to death with great destruction: five hundred thousand of the best of Israel were put to the sword. KAV: 아비야와 그의 백성이 쳐서 크게 살육하니 이에 이스라엘 중에서 택한 사람 오십만 명이 죽어 쓰러지니라.
17 And Abijah and his people put them to death with great destruction: five hundred thousand of the best of Israel were put to the sword.
17 아비야와 그 백성이 크게 도륙하니 이스라엘의 택한 병정이 죽임을 입고 엎드러진 자가 오십만이었더라
18 Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judahprevailed, because they relied upon the LORDGod of their fathers.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel were humbled at that time, and the sons of Judah won because they relied on the LORD God of their fathers. BBE: So at that time the children of Israel were overcome, and the children of Judah got the better of them, because they put their faith in the Lord, the God of their fathers. KAV: 이와 같이 그때에 이스라엘 자손이 항복하고 유다 자손이 이겼으니 이는 그들이 {주} 자기 조상들의 [하나님]을 의지하였기 때문이라.
18 So at that time the children of Israel were overcome, and the children of Judah got the better of them, because they put their faith in the Lord, the God of their fathers.
18 그 때에 이스라엘 자손이 항복하고 유다 자손이 이기었으니 이는 저희가 그 열조의 하나님 여호와를 의지하였음이라
19 And AbijahpursuedafterJeroboam, and tookcities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof.[x]MKJV: And Abijah pursued Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with its villages, and Jeshanah with its villages, and Ephron with its villages. BBE: And Abijah went after Jeroboam and took some of his towns, Beth-el with its small towns and Jeshanah with its small towns and Ephron with its small towns. KAV: 아비야가 여로보암을 쫓아가서 그로부터 도시들을 빼앗았으니 곧 벧엘과 그것의 고을들과 여사나와 그것의 고을들과 에브라인과 그것의 고을들이더라.
19 And Abijah went after Jeroboam and took some of his towns, Beth-el with its small towns and Jeshanah with its small towns and Ephron with its small towns.
19 아비야가 여로보암을 쫓아가서 그 성읍들을 빼앗았으니 곧 벧엘과 그 동네와 여사나와 그 동네와 에브론과 그 동네라
20 Neither did Jeroboamrecoverstrength again in the days of Abijah: and the LORDstruck him, and he died.[x]MKJV: And Jeroboam did not recover strength again [in] the days of Abijah. And the LORD struck him and he died. BBE: And Jeroboam did not get back his power again in the life-time of Abijah; and the Lord sent death on him. KAV: 아비야 시대에 여로보암이 다시 힘을 회복하지 못하였고 {주}께서 그를 치시니 그가 죽었더라.
20 And Jeroboam did not get back his power again in the life-time of Abijah; and the Lord sent death on him.

21 But Abijah waxed mighty, and marriedfourteenㆍwives, and begattwenty and twosons, and sixteenㆍdaughters.[x]MKJV: And Abijah became mighty, and married fourteen wives, and fathered twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters. BBE: But Abijah became great, and had fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters. KAV: ¶ 그러나 아비야는 강성하게 되었으며 열네 아내와 결혼하여 아들 스물두 명과 딸 열여섯 명을 낳았더라.
