3 And the asses of KishSaul'sfather were lost. 3 Now the asses of Saul's father Kish had gone wandering away. And Kish said to his son Saul, Take one of the servants with you, and get up and go in search of the asses.

4 And he passed throughmountEphraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they foundthem not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they foundthem not.[x]MKJV: And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they did not find [them]. And they passed through the land of Shaalim, and nothing there. And he passed through the land of Benjamin, but they did not find [them]. 4 So they went through the hill-country of Ephraim and through the land of Shalishah, but they saw no sign of them: then they went through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there: and they went through the land of the Benjamites, but they did not come across them.
4 그가 에브라임 산지와 살리사 땅으로 두루 다니되 찾지 못하고 사알림 땅으로 두루 다니되 없고 베냐민 사람의 땅으로 두루 다니되 찾지 못하니라
5And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saulsaid to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my fatherleavecaring for the asses, and take thought for us.[x]MKJV: And they came to the land of Zuph, and Saul said to his servant who [was] with him, Come and let us return lest my father quit [caring] for the asses, and be anxious about us. 5 And when they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to the servant who was with him, Come, let us go back, or my father may give up caring about the asses and be troubled about us.

6 And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourableman; all that he saithcometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can show us our way that we should go.[x]MKJV: And he said to him, Behold now, in this city [is] a man of God, and an honorable man. All that he says surely comes to pass. Now let us go there. Perhaps he can declare our way to us, how to go. BBE: But the servant said to him, See now, in this town there is a man of God, who is highly honoured, and everything he says comes true: let us go there now; it may be that he will give us directions about our journey. 6 대답하되 보소서 이 성에 하나님의 사람이 있는데 존중히 여김을 받는 사람이라 그가 말한 것은 반드시 다 응하나니 그리로 가사이다 그가 혹 우리의 갈 길을 가르칠까 하나이다
7 Then saidSaul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?[x]MKJV: Then Saul said to his young man, But behold, [if] we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread in our vessels is gone, and [there is] no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have? BBE: Then Saul said to his servant, But if we go, what are we to take the man? all our bread is gone, and we have no offering to take to the man of God: what are we to do? 7 Then Saul said to his servant, But if we go, what are we to take the man? all our bread is gone, and we have no offering to take to the man of God: what are we to do?

8 And the servantansweredSaulagain, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.[x]MKJV: And the young man answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have found the fourth of a shekel of silver. I will give it to the man of God to tell us our way. BBE: But the servant said in answer, I have here a fourth part of a shekel of silver: I will give that to the man of God, and he will give us directions about our way. 8 But the servant said in answer, I have here a fourth part of a shekel of silver: I will give that to the man of God, and he will give us directions about our way.
8 사환이 사울에게 다시 대답하여 가로되 보소서 내 손에 은 한 세겔의 사분 일이 있으니 하나님의 사람에게 드려 우리 길을 가르치게 하겠나이다
9(Beforetime in Israel, when a manwent to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that isnowcalled a Prophet was beforetimecalled a Seer.)[x]MKJV: (In the old days in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he said this: Come, let us go to the seer, for the prophet of today was before called a seer.) BBE: (In the past in Israel, when a man went to get directions from God, he said, Come let us go to the Seer, for he who now is named Prophet was in those days given the name of Seer.) 10 Then saidSaul to his servant, Wellsaid; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of Godwas.[x]MKJV: And Saul said to his young man, Your word is good. Come, let us go. So they went into the city where the man of God [was]. BBE: Then Saul said to his servant, You have said well; come, let us go. So they went to the town where the man of God was. 10 Then Saul said to his servant, You have said well; come, let us go. So they went to the town where the man of God was.

11And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to drawwater, and said unto them, Is the seer here?[x]MKJV: [As] they went up the hill to the city, they found young women going out to draw water, and said to them, Is the seer here? BBE: And when they were on the way up to the town, they saw some young girls going out to get water and said to them, Is the seer here? 11 And when they were on the way up to the town, they saw some young girls going out to get water and said to them, Is the seer here?

12 And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he isbefore you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:[x]MKJV: And they answered them and said, He is. Behold, [he is] before you. Hurry now, for he came today to the city, for [there is] a feast of the people today in the high place. 13 As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightwayfind him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; andafterwardstheyeat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.[x]MKJV: As you come to the city, you shall immediately find him before he goes up to the high place to eat. For the people will not eat until he comes, because he blesses the feast. Afterwards those who have been invited eat. And now go up, for about this time you shall find him. BBE: When you come into the town you will see him straight away, before he goes up to the high place for the feast: the people are waiting for his blessing before starting the feast, and after that the guests will take part in it. 13 When you come into the town you will see him straight away, before he goes up to the high place for the feast: the people are waiting for his blessing before starting the feast, and after that the guests will take part in it. So go up now and you will see him.
13 당신들이 성으로 들어가면 그가 먹으러 산당에 올라가기 전에 곧 만나리이다 그가 오기 전에는 백성이 먹지 아니하나니 이는 그가 제물을 축사한 후에야 청함을 받은 자가 먹음이라 그러므로 지금 올라가소서 금시로 만나리이다 하는지라
14 And they went upinto the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came outagainst them, for to go up to the high place.[x]MKJV: And they went up into the city. When they had come into the middle of the city, behold, Samuel came out to meet them, to go up to the high place. 16 To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to becaptain over my peopleIsrael, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.[x]MKJV: Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin. And you shall anoint him [to be] leader over My people Israel, so that he may save My people out of the hand of the Philistines. For I have looked on My people because their cry has come to Me. BBE: Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and on him you are to put the holy oil, making him ruler over my people Israel, and he will make my people safe from the hands of the Philistines: for I have seen the sorrow of my people, whose cry has come up to me. 17 And when SamuelsawSaul, the LORDsaid unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.[x]MKJV: And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said to him, Behold the man of whom I spoke to you! This [one] shall reign over My people. BBE: And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, This is the man of whom I gave you word! he it is who is to have authority over my people. 18 Then Saul drew near to Samuelin the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer'shouseis.[x]MKJV: And Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate and said, Please tell me where the seer's house [is]. BBE: Then Saul came up to Samuel in the doorway of the town and said, Give me directions, if you will be so good, to the house of the seer. KAV: 그때에 사울이 성문에서 사무엘에게 가까이 나아가 이르되, 원하건대 선견자의 집이 어디인지 내게 말해 주소서, 하니
18 Then Saul came up to Samuel in the doorway of the town and said, Give me directions, if you will be so good, to the house of the seer.
18 사울이 성문 가운데 사무엘에게 나아가 가로되 선견자의 집이 어디인지 청컨대 내게 가르치소서
19 And SamuelansweredSaul, and said, I am the seer: go upbefore me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.[x]MKJV: And Samuel answered Saul and said, I [am] the seer. Go up before me to the high place. For you shall eat with me today, and tomorrow I will let you go, and will tell you all that is in your heart. BBE: Then Samuel said to Saul, I am the seer; go up before me to the high place and take food with me today: and in the morning I will let you go, after opening to you all the secrets of your heart. 19 Then Samuel said to Saul, I am the seer; go up before me to the high place and take food with me today: and in the morning I will let you go, after opening to you all the secrets of your heart.
19 사무엘이 사울에게 대답하여 가로되 내가 선견자니라 너는 내 앞서 산당으로 올라가라 너희가 오늘날 나와 함께 먹을 것이요 아침에는 내가 너를 보내되 네 마음에 있는 것을 다 네게 말하리라
20 And as for thine asses that were lostthreedaysago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father'shouse?[x]MKJV: And as to the asses [which were] lost to you three days ago, do not set your mind on them. For they are found. And on whom [is] all the desire of Israel? Is it not on you and on all your father's house? BBE: As for your asses which have been wandering for three days, give no thought to them, for they have come back. And for whom are all the desired things in Israel? are they not for you and your father's family? 21 And Saulanswered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?[x]MKJV: And Saul answered and said, [Am] I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And [is] not my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak so to me? BBE: And Saul said, Am I not a man of Benjamin, the smallest of all the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of the families of Benjamin? why then do you say these words to me? 21 사울이 대답하여 가로되 나는 이스라엘 지파의 가장 작은 지파 베냐민 사람이 아니오며 나의 가족은 베냐민 지파 모든 가족 중에 가장 미약하지 아니하니이까 당신이 어찌하여 내게 이같이 말씀하시나이까
22 And SamueltookSaul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefestplace among them that were bidden, which were about thirtypersons.[x]MKJV: And Samuel took Saul and his young man and brought them into the room, and gave them a place at the head of the invited ones, about thirty persons. BBE: Then Samuel took Saul and his servant into the guest room, and made them take the chief place among all the guests who were there, about thirty persons. 22 Then Samuel took Saul and his servant into the guest room, and made them take the chief place among all the guests who were there, about thirty persons.
22 사무엘이 사울과 그 사환을 인도하여 객실로 들어가서 청한 자 중 수석에 앉게 하였는데 객은 삼십명 가량이었더라
23 And Samuelsaid unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.[x]MKJV: And Samuel said to the cook, Bring that part which I gave you, [of] which I said to you, Set it beside you. BBE: And Samuel said to the cook, Give me that part which I gave you orders to keep by you. KAV: 사무엘이 요리하는 자에게 이르되, 내가 네게 주며 네 옆에 두라고 말한 그 부분을 가져오라, 하니 TSK: Bring: 1sa 1:5, ge 43:34
23 And Samuel said to the cook, Give me that part which I gave you orders to keep by you.
23 사무엘이 요리인에게 이르되 내가 네게 주며 네게 두라고 말한 그 부분을 가져오라
24 And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and setitbeforeSaul. And Samuelsaid, Behold that which is left! setitbefore thee, andeat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.[x]MKJV: And the cook took up the shoulder and that on it, and set [it] before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is reserved! Set [it] before you [and] eat. For until this set time it has been kept for you, since I said, I have invited the people. And Saul ate with Samuel that day. BBE: And the cook took up the leg with the fat tail on it, and put it before Saul. And Samuel said, This is the part which has been kept for you: take it as your part of the feast; because it has been kept for you till the right time came and till the guests were present. So that day Saul took food with Samuel. KAV: 요리하는 자가 어깨와 그 위에 붙은 것을 가져다가 사울 앞에 놓으매 사무엘이 이르되, 남겨 둔 저것을 보라! 네 앞에 놓고 먹으라. 내가 말하기를, 내가 백성을 초청하였다, 한 때부터 너를 위하여 이때까지 그것을 남겨 두었느니라, 하니 이처럼 그 날에 사울이 사무엘과 함께 먹으니라. 24 And the cook took up the leg with the fat tail on it, and put it before Saul. And Samuel said, This is the part which has been kept for you: take it as your part of the feast; because it has been kept for you till the right time came and till the guests were present. So that day Saul took food with Samuel.
24 요리인이 넓적다리와 그것에 붙은 것을 가져다가 사울 앞에 놓는지라 사무엘이 가로되 보라 이는 두었던 것이니 네 앞에 놓고 먹으라 내가 백성을 청할 때부터 너를 위하여 이것을 두어서 이때를 기다리게 하였느니라 그 날에 사울이 사무엘과 함께 먹으니라
25 And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuelcommuned with Saul upon the top of the house.[x]MKJV: And they came down from the high place into the city, and he spoke with Saul on the top of the house. BBE: And when they had come down from the high place into the town, where a bed was made ready for Saul, he went to rest. KAV: ¶ 그들이 산당에서 내려와 도시로 들어간 뒤 사무엘이 사울과 함께 집의 지붕에서 대화하니라. 25 And when they had come down from the high place into the town, where a bed was made ready for Saul, he went to rest.
25 그들이 산당에서 내려 성에 들어가서는 사무엘이 사울과 함께 지붕에서 담화하고
26 And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that SamuelcalledSaul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saularose, and they went outboth of them, he and Samuel, abroad.[x]MKJV: And they arose early. And it happened about the spring of the day that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, so that I may send you away. And Saul arose, and both of them went out, he and Samuel outside. BBE: And about dawn Samuel said to Saul on the roof, Get up so that I may send you away. So Saul got up, and he and Samuel went out together. 26 And about dawn Samuel said to Saul on the roof, Get up so that I may send you away. So Saul got up, and he and Samuel went out together.
26 그들이 일찌기 일어날쌔 동틀 때 즈음이라 사무엘이 지붕에서 사울을 불러 가로되 일어나라 내가 너를 보내리라 하매 사울이 일어나고 그 두 사람 사울과 사무엘이 함께 밖으로 나가서
27And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuelsaid to Saul, Bid the servant pass onbefore us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may show thee the word of God.[x]MKJV: They were going down to the end of the city, and Samuel said to Saul, Tell the servant to pass on before us and pass on. And you stand still awhile, so that I may cause you to hear the word of God. BBE: And on their way down to the end of the town, Samuel said to Saul, Give your servant orders to go on in front of us, (so he went on,) but you keep here, so that I may give you the word of God. KAV: 도시 끝으로 내려갈 때에 사무엘이 사울에게 이르기를, 종에게 명령하여 우리보다 앞서 가게 하되 (그가 앞서 가더라.) 너는 잠깐 서 있으라. 내가 [하나님]의 말씀을 네게 알려 주리라, 하니라. TSK: Bid the servant: 1sa 20:38,39, joh 15:14,15; that I may: 1sa 15:16, 2ki 9:5,6
27 And on their way down to the end of the town, Samuel said to Saul, Give your servant orders to go on in front of us, (so he went on,) but you keep here, so that I may give you the word of God.
27 성읍 끝에 이르매 사무엘이 사울에게 이르되 사환으로 우리를 앞서게 하라 사환이 앞서매 또 가로되 너는 이제 잠간 서 있으라 내가 하나님의 말씀을 네게 들리리라
