1 And the childSamuelministered unto the LORDbeforeEli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no openvision.[x]MKJV: And the child Samuel served the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was rare in those days. [There was] no open vision. BBE: Now the young Samuel was the servant of the Lord before Eli. 1 Now the young Samuel was the servant of the Lord before Eli. In those days the Lord kept his word secret from men; there was no open vision.

2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eliwas laid down in his place, and his eyesbegan to wax dim, that he could not see;[x]MKJV: And it happened at that time, when Eli [was] lying down in his place, and his eyes began to become dim so that he could not see. 2 And at that time, when Eli was resting in his place, (now his eyes were becoming clouded so that he was not able to see,)

3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of Godwas, and Samuel was laid downto sleep;[x]MKJV: And the lamp of God had not gone out. And Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God [was]. 3 And the light of God was still burning, while Samuel was sleeping in the Temple of the Lord where the ark of God was,

4 That the LORDcalledSamuel: and he answered, Here am I.[x]MKJV: And the LORD called Samuel. And he answered, Here [am] I. BBE: The voice of the Lord said Samuel's name; and he said, Here am I. 4 The voice of the Lord said Samuel's name; and he said, Here am I.

5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here amI; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie downagain. And he went and lay down.[x]MKJV: And he ran to Eli, and said, Here [am] I. For you called me. And he said, I did not call. Go and lie down again. And he went to lie down. BBE: And running to Eli he said, Here am I, for you said my name. And Eli said, I did not say your name; go to your rest again. So he went back to his bed. KAV: 엘리에게로 달려가서 이르되, 당신이 나를 부르셨으므로 내가 여기 있나이다, 하매 그가 이르되, 나는 부르지 아니하였으니 다시 누우라, 하매 그가 가서 누우니라.
5 And running to Eli he said, Here am I, for you said my name. And Eli said, I did not say your name; go to your rest again. So he went back to his bed.

6 And the LORDcalled yet again, Samuel. And Samuelarose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie downagain.[x]MKJV: And the LORD called again, Samuel! And Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, Here [am] I, for you called me. And he answered, I did not call, my son. Go back, lie down. BBE: And again the Lord said, Samuel. And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, Here am I; for you certainly said my name. 6 And again the Lord said, Samuel. And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, Here am I; for you certainly said my name. But he said in answer, I said nothing, my son; go to your rest again.

7 Now Samuel did not yetknow the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.[x]MKJV: And Samuel did not yet know the LORD, and the word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him. BBE: Now at that time Samuel had no knowledge of the Lord, and the revelation of the word of the Lord had not come to him. KAV: 이제 사무엘은 아직 {주}를 알지 못하고 {주}의 말씀도 아직 그에게 계시되지 아니하였더라. 7 Now at that time Samuel had no knowledge of the Lord, and the revelation of the word of the Lord had not come to him.
7 사무엘이 아직 여호와를 알지 못하고 여호와의 말씀도 아직 그에게 나타나지 아니한 때라
8 And the LORDcalledSamuelagain the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eliperceived that the LORD had called the child.[x]MKJV: And the LORD called Samuel again, the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, Here [am] I, for you called me. And Eli saw that the LORD had called the child. BBE: And for the third time the Lord said Samuel's name. And he got up and went to Eli and said, Here am I; for you certainly said my name. Then it was clear to Eli that the voice which had said the child's name was the Lord's. 8 And for the third time the Lord said Samuel's name. And he got up and went to Eli and said, Here am I; for you certainly said my name. Then it was clear to Eli that the voice which had said the child's name was the Lord's.

9 Therefore Elisaid unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servantheareth. So Samuelwent and lay down in his place.[x]MKJV: And Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down; and it shall be, if [One] calls you, you shall say, Speak, LORD, for Your servant hears. And Samuel went to lie down in his place. BBE: So Eli said to Samuel, Go back: and if the voice comes again, let your answer be, Say on, Lord; for the ears of your servant are open. 9 So Eli said to Samuel, Go back: and if the voice comes again, let your answer be, Say on, Lord; for the ears of your servant are open. So Samuel went back to his bed.
9 이에 사무엘에게 이르되 가서 누웠다가 그가 너를 부르시거든 네가 말하기를 여호와여 말씀하옵소서 주의 종이 듣겠나이다 하라 이에 사무엘이 가서 자기 처소에 누우니라
10 And the LORDcame, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuelanswered, Speak; for thy servantheareth.[x]MKJV: And the LORD came and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel! Then Samuel answered, Speak, for Your servant hears. BBE: Then the Lord came and said as before, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel made answer, Say on, Lord; for the ears of your servant are open. 10 Then the Lord came and said as before, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel made answer, Say on, Lord; for the ears of your servant are open.
10 여호와께서 임하여 서서 전과 같이 사무엘아 사무엘아 부르시는지라 사무엘이 가로되 말씀하옵소서 주의 종이 듣겠나이다
11 And the LORDsaid to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.[x]MKJV: And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle. BBE: And the Lord said to Samuel, See, I will do a thing in Israel at which the ears of everyone hearing of it will be burning. 11 And the Lord said to Samuel, See, I will do a thing in Israel at which the ears of everyone hearing of it will be burning.
11 여호와께서 사무엘에게 이르시되 보라 내가 이스라엘 중에 한 일을 행하리니 그것을 듣는 자마다 두 귀가 울리리라
12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spokenconcerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.[x]MKJV: In that day I will confirm to Eli all that which I have spoken as to his house, beginning and making an end. BBE: In that day I will do to Eli everything which I have said about his family, from first to last. KAV: 그 날에 내가 엘리의 집에 관하여 말한 모든 것을 그에게 다 행하리라. 내가 시작하면 또한 끝을 내리라. 12 In that day I will do to Eli everything which I have said about his family, from first to last.

13 For I have told him that I will judge his houseforever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.[x]MKJV: For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile and he did not restrain them. BBE: And you are to say to him that I will send punishment on his family for ever, for the sin which he had knowledge of; because his sons have been cursing God and he had no control over them. 13 내가 그 집을 영영토록 심판하겠다고 그에게 이른 것은 그의 아는 죄악을 인함이니 이는 그가 자기 아들들이 저주를 자청하되 금하지 아니하였음이니라
14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli'shouse shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offeringforever.[x]MKJV: And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering forever. BBE: So I have made an oath to the family of Eli that no offering of meat or of meal which they may make will ever take away the sin of his family. 15 And Samuellay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuelfeared to showEli the vision.[x]MKJV: And Samuel lay until morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to show Eli the vision. BBE: And Samuel kept where he was, not moving till the time came for opening the doors of the house of God in the morning. And fear kept him from giving Eli an account of his vision. 15 And Samuel kept where he was, not moving till the time came for opening the doors of the house of God in the morning. And fear kept him from giving Eli an account of his vision.

16 Then ElicalledSamuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.[x]MKJV: And Eli called Samuel and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here [am] I. 16 Then Eli said, Samuel, my son. And Samuel answering said, Here am I.

17 And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hideit not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hideanything from me of all the things that he said unto thee.[x]MKJV: And he said, What [is] the word which He has said to you? Please do not hide [it] from me. God do so to you, and more also, if you hide a thing from me of all the words that He said to you. BBE: And he said, What did the Lord say to you? Do not keep it from me: may God's punishment be on you if you keep from me anything he said to you. 17 And he said, What did the Lord say to you? Do not keep it from me: may God's punishment be on you if you keep from me anything he said to you.
17 가로되 네게 무엇을 말씀하셨느냐 청하노니 내게 숨기지 말라 네게 말씀하신 모든 것을 하나라도 숨기면 하나님이 네게 벌을 내리시고 또 내리시기를 원하노라
18 And Samueltold him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.[x]MKJV: And Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It [is] the LORD; let Him do what seems good to Him. BBE: Then Samuel gave him an account of everything, keeping nothing back. And he said, It is the Lord; let him do what seems good to him. KAV: 사무엘이 모든 것을 그에게 말하고 아무것도 숨기지 아니하매 그가 이르되, 그분은 {주} 시니 그분께서 선하게 여기는 것을 행하실 것이니라, 하니라. 18 Then Samuel gave him an account of everything, keeping nothing back. And he said, It is the Lord; let him do what seems good to him.

19 And Samuelgrew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his wordsfall to the ground.[x]MKJV: And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beershebaknew that Samuelwasestablishedto be a prophet of the LORD.[x]MKJV: And all Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, knew that Samuel [was] established to be a prophet of the LORD. BBE: And it was clear to all Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba that Samuel had been made a prophet of the Lord. KAV: ¶ 단에서부터 브엘세바에 이르기까지 온 이스라엘이 사무엘은 {주}의 대언자로 세워진 줄을 알았더라. 20 And it was clear to all Israel from Dan to Beer-sheba that Samuel had been made a prophet of the Lord.

21 And the LORDappearedagain in Shiloh: for the LORDrevealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.[x]MKJV: And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh. For the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD. BBE: And the Lord was seen again in Shiloh; for the Lord gave to Samuel in Shiloh the revelation of his word. 21 And the Lord was seen again in Shiloh; for the Lord gave to Samuel in Shiloh the revelation of his word.
