25 And the men of Israelsaid, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defyIsrael is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with greatriches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father'shousefree in Israel.[x]MKJV: And the men of Israel said, Have you seen this man that has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel. And it shall be, the king will enrich the man who kills him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel. BBE: And the men of Israel said, Have you seen this man? Clearly he has come out to put shame on Israel: and it is certain that if any man overcomes him, the king will give that man great wealth, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's family free in Israel. 26 And Davidspake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeththisPhilistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcisedPhilistine, that he should defy the armies of the livingGod?[x]MKJV: And David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man who kills this Philistine and takes away this shame from Israel? For who [is] this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God? BBE: And David said to the men near him, What will be done to the man who overcomes this Philistine and takes away the shame from Israel? for who is this Philistine, a man without circumcision, that he has put shame on the armies of the living God? 26 And David said to the men near him, What will be done to the man who overcomes this Philistine and takes away the shame from Israel? for who is this Philistine, a man without circumcision, that he has put shame on the armies of the living God?
26 다윗이 곁에 섰는 사람들에게 말하여 가로되 이 블레셋 사람을 죽여 이스라엘의 치욕을 제하는 사람에게는 어떠한 대우를 하겠느냐 이 할례 없는 블레셋 사람이 누구관대 사시는 하나님의 군대를 모욕하겠느냐
27 And the peopleanswered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.[x]MKJV: And the people answered him in this way, saying, So shall it be done to the man who kills him. BBE: And the people gave him this answer, So it will be done to the man who overcomes him. KAV: 백성이 이 같은 식으로 그에게 대답하여 이르되, 그를 죽이는 사람에게는 그렇게 대우하리라, 하니라.
27 And the people gave him this answer, So it will be done to the man who overcomes him.
27 백성이 전과 같이 말하여 가로되 그를 죽이는 사람에게는 여차 여차히 하시리라 하니라
28 And Eliab his eldestbrotherheard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab'sanger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou leftthosefewsheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.[x]MKJV: And his oldest brother Eliab heard when he spoke to the men. And Eliab's anger was kindled against David. And he said, Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the naughtiness of your heart. For you have come down to see the battle. BBE: And Eliab, his oldest brother, hearing what David said to the men, was moved to wrath against David, and said, Why have you come here? Into whose care have you given that little flock of sheep in the waste land? I have knowledge of your pride and the evil of your heart, you have come down to see the fight. 29 And Davidsaid, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?[x]MKJV: And David said, What have I done now? Was it not [only] a word? 32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart become feeble because of him; I, your servant, will go out and have a fight with this Philistine.

33 And Saulsaid to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.[x]MKJV: And Saul said to David, You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him. For you [are but] a youth, and he is a man of war from his youth. BBE: And Saul said to David, You are not able to go out against this Philistine and have a fight with him: for you are only a boy, and he has been a man of war from his earliest days. 33 And Saul said to David, You are not able to go out against this Philistine and have a fight with him: for you are only a boy, and he has been a man of war from his earliest days.
33 사울이 다윗에게 이르되 네가 가서 저 블레셋 사람과 싸우기에 능치 못하리니 너는 소년이요 그는 어려서부터 용사임이니라
34 And Davidsaid unto Saul, Thy servantkept his father'ssheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lambㆍ out of the flock:[x]MKJV: And David said to Saul, Your servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock. BBE: And David said to Saul, Your servant has been keeper of his father's sheep; and if a lion or a bear came and took a lamb from the flock, KAV: 다윗이 사울에게 이르되, 당신의 종이 자기 아버지의 양들을 지킬 때에 사자나 곰이 와서 양 떼에서 어린양을 움켜 가면
34 And David said to Saul, Your servant has been keeper of his father's sheep; and if a lion or a bear came and took a lamb from the flock,
34 다윗이 사울에게 고하되 주의 종이 아비의 양을 지킬 때에 사자나 곰이 와서 양떼에서 새끼를 움키면
35 And I went outafter him, and smote him, and deliveredit out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caughthim by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.[x]MKJV: And I went out after it and struck it, and delivered [the lamb] out of its mouth. And when it rose against me, I caught [it] by the beard, and struck it and killed it. BBE: I went out after him, and overcame him, and took it out of his mouth: and if, turning on me, he came at me, I took him by the hair and overcame him and put him to death. 35 I went out after him, and overcame him, and took it out of his mouth: and if, turning on me, he came at me, I took him by the hair and overcame him and put him to death.

36 Thy servantslew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcisedPhilistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the livingGod.[x]MKJV: Your servant killed both the lion and the bear. And this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God. BBE: Your servant has overcome lion and bear: and the fate of this Philistine, who is without circumcision, will be like theirs, seeing that he has put shame on the armies of the living God. 36 주의 종이 사자와 곰도 쳤은즉 사시는 하나님의 군대를 모욕한 이 할례 없는 블레셋 사람이리이까 그가 그 짐승의 하나와 같이 되리이다
37Davidsaid moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saulsaid unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.[x]MKJV: And David said, The LORD who has delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and may the LORD be with you. BBE: And David said, The Lord, who kept me safe from the grip of the lion and the bear, will be my saviour from the hands of this Philistine. 38 And SaularmedDavid with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.[x]MKJV: And Saul armed David with his armor, and he put a helmet of bronze on his head. He also armed him [with] scaled armor. BBE: Then Saul gave David his clothing of war, and put a head-dress of brass on his head and had him clothed with a coat of metal. KAV: ¶ 사울이 자기 갑옷으로 다윗을 무장시키고 놋 투구를 그의 머리에 씌워 주며 또 쇠 그물 옷으로 그를 무장시키매
38 Then Saul gave David his clothing of war, and put a head-dress of brass on his head and had him clothed with a coat of metal.
38 이에 사울이 자기 군복을 다윗에게 입히고 놋투구를 그 머리에 씌우고 또 그에게 갑옷을 입히매
39 And Davidgirded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not provedit. And Davidsaid unto Saul, I cannotgo with these; for I have not provedthem. And Davidput them off him.[x]MKJV: And David girded his sword on his armor, and he tried to go. But he had not tested [it]. And David said to Saul, I cannot go with these, for I have not tested [them]. And David put them off him. BBE: And David took Saul's sword and put the band round him over the metal coat, and was unable to go forward; for he was not used to them. Then David said to Saul, It is not possible for me to go out with these, for I am not used to them. So David took them off. 39 And David took Saul's sword and put the band round him over the metal coat, and was unable to go forward; for he was not used to them. Then David said to Saul, It is not possible for me to go out with these, for I am not used to them. So David took them off.

40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him fivesmoothstones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd'sbag which he had, even in a scrip; and his slingwas in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.[x]MKJV: And he took his staff in his hand, and chose five smooth stones out of the brook for himself, and put them in a shepherd's vessel which he had, even in a bag. And his sling [was] in his hand. And he drew near the Philistine. BBE: Then he took his stick in his hand, and got five smooth stones from the bed of the stream and put them in a bag such as is used by sheep-keepers; and in his hand was a leather band used for sending stones: and so he went in the direction of the Philistine. 40 Then he took his stick in his hand, and got five smooth stones from the bed of the stream and put them in a bag such as is used by sheep-keepers; and in his hand was a leather band used for sending stones: and so he went in the direction of the Philistine.
40 손에 막대기를 가지고 시내에서 매끄러운 돌 다섯을 골라서 자기 목자의 제구 곧 주머니에 넣고 손에 물매를 가지고 블레셋 사람에게로 나아가니라
41 And the Philistinecameon and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shieldwentbefore him.[x]MKJV: And the Philistine came on and drew near David. And the man who bore the shield [was] before him. BBE: And the Philistine came nearer to David; and the man who had his body-cover went before him. 41 And the Philistine came nearer to David; and the man who had his body-cover went before him.

42 And when the Philistine looked about, and sawDavid, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a faircountenance.[x]MKJV: And the Philistine looked and saw David, and disdained him. For he was [only] a youth, and ruddy, with a handsome appearance. BBE: And when the Philistine, taking note, saw David, he had a poor opinion of him: for he was only a boy, red-haired and good-looking. 42 And when the Philistine, taking note, saw David, he had a poor opinion of him: for he was only a boy, red-haired and good-looking.

43 And the Philistinesaid unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the PhilistinecursedDavid by his gods.[x]MKJV: And the Philistine said to David, [Am] I a dog that you come to me with sticks? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. BBE: And the Philistine said to David, Am I a dog, that you come out to me with sticks? And the Philistine put curses on David by all his gods. 44 And the Philistinesaid to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.[x]MKJV: And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the field. BBE: And the Philistine said to David, Come here to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. 44 And the Philistine said to David, Come here to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field.

45 Then saidDavid to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.[x]MKJV: And David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of Jehovah of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. BBE: Then David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword and a spear and a javelin: but I come to you in the name of the Lord of armies, the God of the armies of Israel on which you have put shame. 46 This day will the LORDdeliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.[x]MKJV: Jehovah will deliver you into my hand today, and I will strike you and take your head from you and give the bodies of the army of the Philistines to the birds of the air today, and to the wild beasts of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORDsaveth not with sword and spear: for the battleis the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.[x]MKJV: And all this multitude shall know that Jehovah does not save with sword and spear; for the battle [is] Jehovah's, and He will give you into our hands. BBE: And all these people who are here today may see that the Lord does not give salvation by sword and spear: for the fight is the Lord's, and he will give you up into our hands. 48 And it came to pass, when the Philistinearose, and came and drew nigh to meetDavid, that Davidhasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.[x]MKJV: And it happened when the Philistine rose and went and drew near to meet David, David hurried and ran toward the ranks to meet the Philistine. BBE: Now when the Philistine made a move and came near to David, David quickly went at a run in the direction of the army, meeting the Philistine face to face. 48 Now when the Philistine made a move and came near to David, David quickly went at a run in the direction of the army, meeting the Philistine face to face.
48 블레셋 사람이 일어나 다윗에게로 마주 가까이 올 때에 다윗이 블레셋 사람에게로 마주 그 항오를 향하여 빨리 달리며
49 And Davidput his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slangit, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stonesunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.[x]MKJV: And David put his hand into his bag and took a stone from there, and slung [it] and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead. And he fell on his face to the earth. BBE: And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and sent it from his leather band straight at the Philistine, and the stone went deep into his brow, and he went down to the earth, falling on his face. 49 And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and sent it from his leather band straight at the Philistine, and the stone went deep into his brow, and he went down to the earth, falling on his face.
49 손을 주머니에 넣어 돌을 취하여 물매로 던져 블레셋 사람의 이마를 치매 돌이 그 이마에 박히니 땅에 엎드러지니라
50 So Davidprevailedover the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.[x]MKJV: And David was stronger than the Philistine with a sling and with a stone. And he struck the Philistine, and killed him. But no sword [was] in the hand of David. BBE: So David overcame the Philistine with his leather band and a stone, wounding the Philistine and causing his death: but David had no sword in his hand. 50 So David overcame the Philistine with his leather band and a stone, wounding the Philistine and causing his death: but David had no sword in his hand.
50 다윗이 이같이 물매와 돌로 블레셋 사람을 이기고 그를 쳐 죽였으나 자기 손에는 칼이 없었더라
51 Therefore Davidran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistinessaw their champion was dead, they fled.[x]MKJV: And David ran and stood on the Philistine, and took out his sword and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it. And the Philistines saw that their champion [was] dead, and fled. 51 So running up to the Philistine and putting his foot on him, David took his sword out of its cover, and put him to death, cutting off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their fighter was dead, they went in flight.
51 다윗이 달려가서 블레셋 사람을 밟고 그의 칼을 그 집에서 빼어내어 그 칼로 그를 죽이고 그 머리를 베니 블레셋 사람들이 자기 용사의 죽음을 보고 도망하는지라
52 And the men of Israel and of Judaharose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.[x]MKJV: And the men of Israel rose up and shouted, and Judah pursued the Philistines until you come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even to Gath and to Ekron. BBE: And the men of Israel and of Judah got up, and gave a cry, and went after the Philistines as far as Gath and the town doors of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines were falling down by the road from Shaaraim all the way to Gath and Ekron. 52 And the men of Israel and of Judah got up, and gave a cry, and went after the Philistines as far as Gath and the town doors of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines were falling down by the road from Shaaraim all the way to Gath and Ekron.
52 이스라엘과 유다 사람들이 일어나서 소리지르며 블레셋 사람을 쫓아 가이와 에그론 성문까지 이르렀고 블레셋 사람의 상한 자들은 사아라임 가는 길에서부터 가드와 에그론까지 엎드러졌더라
53 And the children of Israelreturned from chasingafter the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents. BBE: Then the children of Israel came back from going after the Philistines, and took their goods from the tents. 54 And Davidtook the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent.[x]MKJV: And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem. 54 And David took the head of the Philistine to Jerusalem, but the metal war-dress and the arms he put in his tent.
54 다윗은 블레셋 사람의 머리를 예루살렘으로 가져가고 갑주는 자기 장막에 두니라
55 And when SaulsawDavid go forthagainst the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose sonis this youth? And Abnersaid, As thy soulliveth, O king, I cannottell.[x]MKJV: And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the captain of the army, Abner, whose son [is] this young man? And Abner said, [As] your soul lives, O king, I cannot tell. BBE: And when Saul saw David going out against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the captain of the army, Abner, whose son is this young man? And Abner said, On your life, O king, I have no idea. 55 And when Saul saw David going out against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the captain of the army, Abner, whose son is this young man? And Abner said, On your life, O king, I have no idea.
55 다윗이 블레셋 사람을 향하여 나감을 사울이 보고 군장 아브넬에게 묻되 아브넬아 이 소년이 뉘 아들이냐 아브넬이 가로되 왕이여 왕의 사심으로 맹세하옵나니 내가 알지 못하나이다 하매
56 And the kingsaid, Inquire thou whose son the striplingis.[x]MKJV: And the king said, You go ask whose son the young man [is]. BBE: And the king said, Make search and see whose son this young man is. KAV: 왕이 이르되, 너는 이 젊은이가 누구 아들인가 물어보라, 하였더라.

57 And as Davidreturned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abnertook him, and brought him beforeSaul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.[x]MKJV: And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul, with the head of the Philistine in his hand. BBE: And when David was coming back after the destruction of the Philistine, Abner took him to Saul, with the head of the Philistine in his hand. KAV: 다윗이 그 블레셋 사람을 살육하고 돌아올 때에 아브넬이 그를 안내하여 사울 앞으로 데려갔는데 그의 손에 그 블레셋 사람의 머리가 있더라.
57 And when David was coming back after the destruction of the Philistine, Abner took him to Saul, with the head of the Philistine in his hand.
57 다윗이 블레셋 사람을 죽이고 돌아올 때에 블레셋 사람의 머리가 그 손에 있는채 아브넬이 그를 사울의 앞으로 인도하니
58 And Saulsaid to him, Whose sonart thou, thou young man? And Davidanswered, I am the son of thy servantJesse the Bethlehemite.[x]MKJV: And Saul said to him, Whose son [are] you, young man? And David answered, I am the son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem. BBE: And Saul said to him, Young man, whose son are you? And David in answer said, I am the son of your servant Jesse of Beth-lehem. KAV: 사울이 그에게 이르되, 젊은이여, 너는 누구의 아들이냐? 하니 다윗이 대답하되, 나는 당신의 종 베들레헴 사람 이새의 아들이니이다, 하니라. 58 And Saul said to him, Young man, whose son are you? And David in answer said, I am the son of your servant Jesse of Beth-lehem.
58 사울이 그에게 묻되 소년이여 누구의 아들이뇨 다윗이 대답하되 나는 주의 종 베들레헴 사람 이새의 아들이니이다
