The consideration of Christ's sufferings is urged for purity and holiness. (1-6) And the approaching end of the Jewish state, as a reason for sobriety, watchfulness, and prayer. (7-11) Believers encouraged to rejoice and glory in reproaches and sufferings for Christ, and to commit their souls to the care of a faithful God. (12-19)
KJV BBE KRV
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;1 So that as Jesus was put to death in the flesh, do you yourselves be of the same mind; for the death of the flesh puts an end to sin;1 그리스도께서 이미 육체의 고난을 받으셨으니 너희도 같은 마음으로 갑옷을 삼으라 이는 육체의 고난을 받은 자가 죄를 그쳤음이니
That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.2 So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.2 그 후로는 다시 사람의 정욕을 좇지 않고 오직 하나님의 뜻을 좇아 육체의 남은 때를 살게 하려 함이라
For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:3 Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;3 너희가 음란과 정욕과 술취함과 방탕과 연락과 무법한 우상 숭배를 하여 이방인의 뜻을 좇아 행한 것이 지나간 때가 족하도다
Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:4 And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:4 이러므로 너희가 저희와 함께 그런 극한 방탕에 달음질하지 아니하는 것을 저희가 이상히 여겨 비방하나
Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.5 But they will have to give an account of themselves to him who is ready to be the judge of the living and the dead.5 저희가 산 자와 죽은 자 심판하기를 예비하신 자에게 직고하리라
For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.6 For this was the reason why the good news of Jesus was given even to the dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but might be living before God in the spirit.6 이를 위하여 죽은 자들에게도 복음이 전파되었으니 이는 육체로는 사람처럼 심판을 받으나 영으로는 하나님처럼 살게 하려 함이니라
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.7 But the end of all things is near: so be serious in your behaviour and keep on the watch with prayer;7 만물의 마지막이 가까왔으니 그러므로 너희는 정신을 차리고 근신하여 기도하라
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.8 And most of all be warm in your love for one another; because in love there is forgiveness for sins without number:8 무엇보다도 열심으로 서로 사랑할찌니 사랑은 허다한 죄를 덮느니라
Use hospitality one to another without grudging.9 Keep open house for all with a glad heart;9 서로 대접하기를 원망 없이하고
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another , as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.10 Making distribution among one another of whatever has been given to you, like true servants of the unmeasured grace of God;10 각각 은사를 받은대로 하나님의 각양 은혜를 맡은 선한 청지기 같이 서로 봉사하라
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.11 If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever.11 만일 누가 말하려면 하나님의 말씀을 하는것 같이 하고 누가 봉사하려면 하나님의 공급하시는 힘으로 하는것 같이 하라 이는 범사에 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님이 영광을 받으시게 하려 함이니 그에게 영광과 권능이 세세에 무궁토록 있느니라 아멘
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:12 Dear brothers, do not be surprised, as if it was something strange, if your faith is tested as by fire:12 사랑하는 자들아 너희를 시련하려고 오는 불시험을 이상한 일 당하는것 같이 이상히 여기지 말고
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.13 But be glad that you are given a part in the pains of Christ; so that at the revelation of his glory you may have great joy.13 오직 너희가 그리스도의 고난에 참예하는 것으로 즐거워하라 이는 그의 영광을 나타내실 때에 너희로 즐거워하고 기뻐하게 하려 함이라
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.14 If men say evil things of you because of the name of Christ, happy are you; for the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you.14 너희가 그리스도의 이름으로 욕을 받으면 복 있는 자로다 영광의 영 곧 하나님의 영이 너희 위에 계심이라
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.15 Let no one among you undergo punishment as a taker of life, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as one who is over-interested in other men's business;15 너희 중에 누구든지 살인이나 도적질이나 악행이나 남의 일을 간섭하는 자로 고난을 받지 말려니와
Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.16 But if he undergoes punishment as a Christian, that is no shame to him; let him give glory to God in this name.16 만일 그리스도인으로 고난을 받은즉 부끄러워 말고 도리어 그 이름으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리라
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?17 For the time has come for the judging, starting with the church of God; but if it makes a start with us, what will be the end of those who are not under the rule of God?17 하나님 집에서 심판을 시작할 때가 되었나니 만일 우리에게 먼저 하면 하나님의 복음을 순종치 아니하는 자들의 그 마지막이 어떠하며
And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?18 And if it is hard for even the good man to get salvation, what chance has the man without religion or the sinner?18 또 의인이 겨우 구원을 얻으면 경건치 아니한 자와 죄인이 어디 서리요
Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.19 For this reason let those who by the purpose of God undergo punishment, keep on in well-doing and put their souls into the safe hands of their Maker.19 그러므로 하나님의 뜻대로 고난을 받는 자들은 또한 선을 행하는 가운데 그 영혼을 미쁘신 조물주께 부탁할찌어다
