2Electaccording to the foreknowledge of God the Father, throughsanctification of the Spirit, untoobedienceandsprinkling of the blood of JesusChrist: Grace unto you, andpeace, be multiplied.
2 Who, through the purpose of God, have been made holy by the Spirit, disciples of Jesus, made clean by his blood: May you have grace and peace in full measure.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who through his great mercy has given us a new birth and a living hope by the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead,

7That the trial of yourfaith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, thoughit be tried with fire, might be founduntopraiseandhonourandgloryat the appearing of JesusChrist:
7 So that the true metal of your faith, being of much greater value than gold (which, though it comes to an end, is tested by fire), may come to light in praise and glory and honour, at the revelation of Jesus Christ:
7 너희 믿음의 시련이 불로 연단하여도 없어질 금보다 더 귀하여 예수 그리스도의 나타나실 때에 칭찬과 영광과 존귀를 얻게 하려 함이라
8Whomhavingnotseen, ye love; inwhom, though now ye seehimnot, yetbelieving, ye rejoice with joyunspeakableand full of glory:
8 To whom your love is given, though you have not seen him; and the faith which you have in him, though you do not see him now, gives you joy greater than words and full of glory:

9Receiving the end of yourfaith, even the salvation of yoursouls.

10Ofwhichsalvation the prophets have inquiredand searched diligently, whoprophesiedof the gracethat should comeuntoyou:
10 For the prophets who gave the news of the grace which would come to you, made search with all care for knowledge of this salvation;

11Searchingwhatㆍ, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christwhich was inthem did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferingsofChrist, and the glory that should follow.
11 Attempting to see what sort of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them was pointing to, when it gave witness to the pains which Christ would undergo and the glories which would come after them.
11 자기 속에 계신 그리스도의 영이 그 받으실 고난과 후에 얻으실 영광을 미리 증거하여 어느 시, 어떠한 때를 지시하시는지 상고하니라
12 Unto whom it was revealed, thatnot unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, whicharenowreported unto youby them that have preached the gospel unto youwith the HolyGhost sent downfromheaven; which things the angelsdesire to lookinto.
12 And it was made clear to those prophets that they were God's servants not for themselves but for you, to give you word of the things which have now come to your ears from the preachers of the good news through the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; things which even angels have a desire to see.
12 이 섬긴 바가 자기를 위한 것이 아니요 너희를 위한 것임이 계시로 알게 되었으니 이것은 하늘로부터 보내신 성령을 힘입어 복음을 전하는 자들로 이제 너희에게 고한 것이요 천사들도 살펴 보기를 원하는 것이니라
13Wherefore gird up the loins of yourmind, be sober, and hope to the endfor the grace that is to be brought unto youat the revelation of JesusChrist;
13 So make your minds ready, and keep on the watch, hoping with all your power for the grace which is to come to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
13 그러므로 너희 마음의 허리를 동이고 근신하여 예수 그리스도의 나타나실 때에 너희에게 가져올 은혜를 온전히 바랄찌어다
14Asobedientchildren, not fashioning yourselves according to the formerlustsinyourignorance:
14 Like children ruled by God, do not go back to the old desires of the time when you were without knowledge:
14 너희가 순종하는 자식처럼 이전 알지 못할 때에 좇던 너희 사욕을 본 삼지 말고

18 Forasmuch as ye knowthat ye werenotredeemed with corruptible things, assilverandgold, fromyourvainconversationreceived by tradition from your fathers;
18 Being conscious that you have been made free from that foolish way of life which was your heritage from your fathers, not through a payment of things like silver or gold which come to destruction,
