2 And he sent representatives into the town to Ahab, king of Israel;
2 사자들을 성중 이스라엘 왕 아합에게 보내어 이르기를 벤하닷은 이르노니
3 Thy silver and thy goldis mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.[x]MKJV: Your silver and your gold [are] mine, your wives also and your sons, the best are mine. BBE: And they said to him, Ben-hadad says, Your silver and your gold are mine; and your wives and children are mine. 3 And they said to him, Ben-hadad says, Your silver and your gold are mine; and your wives and children are mine.

4 And the king of Israel sent him an answer saying, As you say, my lord king, I am yours with all I have.

5 And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speakethBenhadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;[x]MKJV: And the messengers came again and said, Ben-hadad speaks in this way, saying, Although I have sent to you saying, You shall deliver me your silver and your gold and your wives and your sons, BBE: Then the representatives came back again, and said, These are the words of Ben-hadad: I sent to you saying, Give up to me your silver and your gold, your wives and your children; KAV: 사자들이 다시 와서 이르되, 벤하닷이 이같이 말하노라. 내가 이미 네게 사람을 보내어 말하기를, 너는 네 은과 금과 아내들과 자녀들을 내게 넘기라, 하였거니와
5 Then the representatives came back again, and said, These are the words of Ben-hadad: I sent to you saying, Give up to me your silver and your gold, your wives and your children;
5 사자가 다시 와서 이르기를 벤하닷은 이르노라 내가 이미 네게 보내어 말하기를 너는 네 은금과 처들과 자녀들을 내게 붙이라 하였거니와
6 Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall putit in their hand, and take itaway.[x]MKJV: yet I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, and they shall search your house and the houses of your servants. And it shall be, whatever is pleasant in your eyes, they will put [it] in their hand and take it away. BBE: But I will send my servants to you tomorrow about this time, to make a search through your house and the houses of your people, and everything which is pleasing in your eyes they will take away in their hands. For he sent to me for my wives and for my sons, and for my silver and for my gold. And I did not keep them back from him. BBE: Then the king of Israel sent for all the responsible men of the land, and said, Now will you take note and see the evil purpose of this man: he sent for my wives and my children, my silver and my gold, and I did not keep them back. 8 And all the elders and all the peoplesaid unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.[x]MKJV: And all the elders and all the people said to him, Do not listen nor consent! 8 And all the responsible men and the people said to him, Do not give attention to him or do what he says.
8 모든 장로와 백성들이 다 왕께 고하되 왕은 듣지도 말고 허락지도 마옵소서 한지라
9 Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengersdeparted, and brought him wordagain.[x]MKJV: And he said to the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that you sent for to your servant at the first I will do, but this thing I may not do. And the messengers left and brought him word again. BBE: So he said to the representatives of Ben-hadad, Say to my lord the king, All the orders you sent the first time I will do; but this thing I may not do. And the representatives went back with this answer. KAV: 그러므로 왕이 벤하닷의 사자들에게 이르되, 내 주 왕께 고하기를, 왕이 처음에 사람을 보내어 주의 종에게 구하신 것은 내가 다 하려니와 이 일은 내가 할 수 없나이다, 하라, 하니 사자들이 떠나가서 그에게 보고하니라.
9 So he said to the representatives of Ben-hadad, Say to my lord the king, All the orders you sent the first time I will do; but this thing I may not do. And the representatives went back with this answer.
9 그러므로 왕이 벤하닷의 사자에게 이르되 너희는 내 주 왕께 고하기를 왕이 처음에 보내어 종에게 구하신 것은 내가 다 그대로 하려니와 이것은 내가 할수 없나이다 하라 사자들이 돌아가서 고하니라
10 And Benhadadsent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.[x]MKJV: And Ben-hadad sent to him and said, May the gods do so to me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall be enough for handfuls for all the people who follow me. BBE: Then Ben-hadad sent to him, saying, May the gods' punishment be on me if there is enough of the dust of Samaria for all the people at my feet to take some in their hands. 10 Then Ben-hadad sent to him, saying, May the gods' punishment be on me if there is enough of the dust of Samaria for all the people at my feet to take some in their hands.

11 And the king of Israelanswered and said, Tellhim, Let not him that girdeth on his harnessboast himself as he that putteth it off.[x]MKJV: And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell [him], Do not let him who girds on boast himself like the one who loosens [his armor]. BBE: And the king of Israel said in answer, Say to him, The time for loud talk is not when a man is putting on his arms, but when he is taking them off. 11 And the king of Israel said in answer, Say to him, The time for loud talk is not when a man is putting on his arms, but when he is taking them off.

12 And it came to pass, when Benhadadheard this message, as he wasdrinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Setyourselves in array. And they setthemselves in array against the city.[x]MKJV: And it happened he heard this word, and he [was] drinking, he and the kings in the booths, he said to his servants, Set [in order], and they set in order against the city. And they placed the engines against the city. BBE: Now when this answer was given to Ben-hadad, he was drinking with the kings in the tents, and he said to his men, Take up your positions. 12 Now when this answer was given to Ben-hadad, he was drinking with the kings in the tents, and he said to his men, Take up your positions. So they put themselves in position for attacking the town.

13 And, behold, there cameaprophet unto Ahabking of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this greatmultitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.[x]MKJV: And behold, a prophet came near to Ahab king of Israel, saying, So says Jehovah, Have you seen all this great multitude? Behold, I will deliver it into your hand today, and you shall know that I [am] the LORD. BBE: Then a prophet came up to Ahab, king of Israel, and said, The Lord says, Have you seen all this great army? See, I will give it into your hands today, and you will see that I am the Lord. 14 And Ahabsaid, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.[x]MKJV: And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, So says Jehovah, By the young men of the rulers of the provinces. And he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, You. BBE: And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, The Lord says, By the servants of the chiefs who are over the divisions of the land. Then he said, By whom is the fighting to be started? And he made answer, By you. 16 And in the middle of the day they went out. But Ben-hadad was drinking in the tents with the thirty-two kings who were helping him.

17 And the young men of the princes of the provinces went outfirst; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.[x]MKJV: And the young men of the rulers of the provinces went out first. And Ben-hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men coming out of Samaria. BBE: And the servants of the chiefs who were over the divisions of the land went forward first; and when Ben-hadad sent out, they gave him the news, saying, Men have come out from Samaria. 17 And the servants of the chiefs who were over the divisions of the land went forward first; and when Ben-hadad sent out, they gave him the news, saying, Men have come out from Samaria.
17 각 도의 방백의 소년들이 먼저 나갔더라 벤하닷이 탐지군을 보내었더니 저희가 회보하여 가로되 사마리아에서 사람들이 나오더이다 하매
18 And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.[x]MKJV: And he said, If they have come out for peace, take them alive; or if they have come out for war, take them alive. BBE: And he said, If they have come out for peace, take them living, and if they have come out for war, take them living. KAV: 그가 이르되, 그들이 화친하러 나올지라도 그들을 산 채로 사로잡고 싸우러 나올지라도 산 채로 사로잡으라, 하니라. 20 And they slew every one his man: and the Syriansfled; and Israelpursued them: and Benhadad the king of Syriaescaped on an horse with the horsemen.[x]MKJV: And they each one killed his man. And the Syrians fled. And Israel pursued them. And Ben-hadad the king of Syria escaped on a horse with the horsemen. BBE: And every one of them put his man to death, and the Aramaeans went in flight with Israel after them; and Ben-hadad, king of Aram, got away safely on a horse with his horsemen. 21 And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a greatslaughter.[x]MKJV: And the king of Israel went out and struck the horses and chariots, and killed the Syrians with a great slaughter. For at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against you. BBE: Then the prophet came up to the king of Israel, and said to him, Now make yourself strong, and take care what you do, or a year from now the king of Aram will come up against you again. 22 그 선지자가 이스라엘 왕에게 나아와 가로되 왕은 가서 힘을 기르고 왕의 행할 일을 알고 준비하소서 해가 돌아오면 아람 왕이 왕을 치러 오리이다 하니라
23 And the servants of the king of Syriasaid unto him, Their godsaregods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.[x]MKJV: And the servants of the king of Syria said to him, Their gods [are] gods of the hills. On account of this they were stronger than we were. But let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. BBE: Then the king of Aram's servants said to him, Their god is a god of the hills; that is why they were stronger than we: but if we make an attack on them in the lowlands, we will certainly be stronger than they. 23 Then the king of Aram's servants said to him, Their god is a god of the hills; that is why they were stronger than we: but if we make an attack on them in the lowlands, we will certainly be stronger than they.
23 아람 왕의 신복들이 왕께 고하되 저희의 신은 산의 신이므로 저희가 우리보다 강하였거니와 우리가 만일 평지에서 저희와 싸우면 정녕 저희보다 강할찌라

24 This is what you have to do: take away the kings from their positions, and put captains in their places;

25 And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fightagainst them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he hearkened unto their voice, and did so.[x]MKJV: and number an army like the army that you have lost, horse for horse and chariot for chariot. And we will fight against them in the plain. Are we not stronger than they? And he listened to their voice and did so. 25 And get together another army like the one which came to destruction, horse for horse, and carriage for carriage; and let us make war on them in the lowlands, and certainly we will be stronger than they. And he gave ear to what they said, and did so.
25 또 왕의 잃어버린 군대와 같은 군대를 왕을 위하여 충수하고 말도 말대로, 병거도 병거대로 충수하고 우리가 평지에서 저희와 싸우면 정녕 저희보다 강하리이다 왕이 그 말을 듣고 그리하니라
26 And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadadnumbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.[x]MKJV: And it happened at the return of the year Ben-hadad numbered the Syrians that went up to Aphek to fight against Israel. BBE: So, a year later, Ben-hadad got the Aramaeans together and went up to Aphek to make war on Israel. 26 So, a year later, Ben-hadad got the Aramaeans together and went up to Aphek to make war on Israel.

27 And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and wentagainst them: and the children of Israelpitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syriansfilled the country.[x]MKJV: And the sons of Israel were numbered, and were fed, and went to meet them. And the sons of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of goats. And the Syrians filled the country. BBE: And the children of Israel got themselves together, and food was made ready and they went against them; the tents of the children of Israel were like two little flocks of goats before them, but all the country was full of the Aramaeans. 27 이스라엘 자손도 점고함을 입고 군량을 받고 마주 나가서 저희 앞에 진을 치니 이스라엘은 염소새끼의 두 적은 떼와 같고 아람 사람은 그 땅에 가득하였더라
28 And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORDisGod of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this greatmultitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.[x]MKJV: And a man of God came near and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, So says Jehovah, Because the Syrians have said, Jehovah [is] God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys, therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I [am] Jehovah. BBE: And a man of God came up and said to the king of Israel, The Lord says, Because the Aramaeans have said, The Lord is a god of the hills and not of the valleys; I will give all this great army into your hands, and you will see that I am the Lord. 28 And a man of God came up and said to the king of Israel, The Lord says, Because the Aramaeans have said, The Lord is a god of the hills and not of the valleys; I will give all this great army into your hands, and you will see that I am the Lord.
28 때에 하나님의 사람이 이스라엘 왕에게 나아와 고하여 가로되 여호와의 말씀이 아람 사람이 말하기를 여호와는 산의 신이요 골짜기의 신은 아니라 하도다 그러므로 내가 이 큰 군대를 다 네 손에 붙이리니 너희는 내가 여호와인 줄 알리라 하셨나이다 하니라
29 And they pitchedone over against the othersevendays. And so it was, that in the seventhday the battle was joined: and the children of Israelslew of the Syrians an hundredthousandfootmen in oneday.[x]MKJV: And they pitched over against one another seven days. And it happened in the seventh day, and the battle came up. And the sons of Israel struck Syria, a hundred thousand footmen in one day. BBE: Now the two armies kept their positions facing one another for seven days. And on the seventh day the fight was started; and the children of Israel put to the sword a hundred thousand Aramaean footmen in one day. 29 진이 서로 대한지 칠일이라 제 칠일에 접전하여 이스라엘 자손이 하루에 아람 보병 십만을 죽이매
30 But the restfled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wallfell upon twenty and seventhousand of the menthat wereleft. And Benhadadfled, and came into the city, into an innerchamber.[x]MKJV: But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city. And [there] a wall fell on twenty-seven thousand of those remaining. And Ben-hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner room. BBE: But the rest went in flight to Aphek, into the town, where a wall came down on the twenty-seven thousand who were still living. 30 그 남은 자는 아벡으로 도망하여 성읍으로 들어갔더니 그 성이 그 남은 자 이만 칠천 위에 무너지고 벤하닷은 도망하여 성읍에 이르러 골방으로 들어가니라
31 And his servantssaid unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israelaremercifulkings: let us, I pray thee, putsackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.[x]MKJV: And his servants said to him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel [are] merciful kings. Please let us put sackcloth on our loins and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Israel. Perhaps he will save your life. BBE: Then his servants said to him, It is said that the kings of Israel are full of mercy: let us then put on haircloth, and cords on our heads, and go to the king of Israel; it may be that he will give you your life. 31 그 신복들이 저에게 고하되 우리가 들은즉 이스라엘 집의 왕들은 인자한 왕이라 하니 만일 우리가 굵은 베로 허리를 묶고 테두리를 머리에 이고 이스라엘 왕에게로 나아가면 저가 혹시 왕의 생명을 살리리이다 하고
32 So they girdedsackcloth on their loins, and putropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servantBenhadadsaith, I pray thee, let me liveㆍ. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.[x]MKJV: And they bound sackcloth on their loins and ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel and said, Your servant Ben-hadad says, Please let me live. And he said, [Is] he still alive? He [is] my brother. BBE: So they put on haircloth, and cords on their heads, and came to the king of Israel and said, Your servant Ben-hadad says, Let me now keep my life. And he said, Is he still living? he is my brother. 33 Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastilycatchit: and they said, Thy brotherBenhadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Benhadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.[x]MKJV: And the men carefully observed, and quickly caught [it] from him, and said, And they said, Your brother Ben-hadad. And he said, Go and bring him. And Ben-hadad came out to him, and he caused him to come up into the chariot. BBE: Now the men took it as a sign, and quickly took up his words; and they said, Ben-hadad is your brother. Then he said, Go and get him. So Ben-hadad came out to him and he made him get up into his carriage. 33 Now the men took it as a sign, and quickly took up his words; and they said, Ben-hadad is your brother. Then he said, Go and get him. So Ben-hadad came out to him and he made him get up into his carriage.
33 그 사람들이 징조로 여기고 그 말을 얼른 받아 대답하여 가로되 벤하닷은 왕의 형제니이다 왕이 가로되 너희는 가서 저를 인도하여 오라 벤하닷이 이에 왕에게 나아오니 왕이 저를 병거에 올린지라
34 And Benhadadsaid unto him, The cities, which my fathertook from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt makestreets for thee in Damascus, as my fathermade in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.[x]MKJV: And [Ben-hadad] said to him, The cities which my father took from your father, I will restore. And you shall make streets for you in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. And [Ahab said, I will send you away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him and sent him away. BBE: And Ben-hadad said to him, The towns my father took from your father I will give back; and you may make streets for yourself in Damascus as my father did in Samaria. And as for me, at the price of this agreement you will let me go. So he made an agreement with him and let him go. 34 And Ben-hadad said to him, The towns my father took from your father I will give back; and you may make streets for yourself in Damascus as my father did in Samaria. And as for me, at the price of this agreement you will let me go. So he made an agreement with him and let him go.
34 벤하닷이 왕께 고하되 내 부친이 당신의 부친에게서 빼앗은 모든 성읍을 내가 돌려 보내리이다 또 나의 부친이 사마리아에서 만든 것 같이 당신도 다메섹에서 당신을 위하여 거리를 만드소서 아합이 가로되 내가 이 약조로 당신을 놓으리라 하고 이에 더불어 약조하고 저를 놓았더라
35 And a certainman of the sons of the prophetssaid unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the manrefused to smite him.[x]MKJV: And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbor, By the word of the LORD, please strike me! And the man refused to strike him. BBE: And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbour by the word of the Lord, Give me a wound. But the man would not. 35 선지자의 무리중 한 사람이 여호와의 말씀으로 그 동무에게 이르되 너는 나를 치라 하였더니 그 사람이 치기를 싫어하는지라
36 Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lionfound him, and slew him.[x]MKJV: And he said to him, Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion shall kill you. And as soon as he had departed from him, a lion found him and killed him. BBE: Then he said to him, Because you have not given ear to the voice of the Lord, straight away when you have gone from me a lion will put you to death. And when he had gone, straight away a lion came rushing at him and put him to death. KAV: 이에 그가 그 사람에게 이르되, 네가 {주}의 음성에 순종하지 아니하였은즉, 보라, 네가 나를 떠나갈 때에 곧바로 사자가 너를 죽이리라, 하니 그 사람이 그를 떠나가매 곧바로 사자가 그를 만나 그를 죽였더라. 36 Then he said to him, Because you have not given ear to the voice of the Lord, straight away when you have gone from me a lion will put you to death. And when he had gone, straight away a lion came rushing at him and put him to death.
36 저가 그 사람에게 이르되 네가 여호와의 말씀을 듣지 아니하였으니 네가 나를 떠나갈 때에 사자가 너를 죽이리라 그 사람이 저의 곁을 떠나가더니 사자가 그를 만나 죽였더라
37 Then he foundanotherman, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the mansmote him, so that in smiting he woundedhim.[x]MKJV: And he found another man and said, Please strike me. And the man struck him, so that he wounded [him] in striking him. BBE: Then he came across another man, and said, Give me a wound. And the man gave him a blow wounding him. 37 Then he came across another man, and said, Give me a wound. And the man gave him a blow wounding him.

38 So the prophetdeparted, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.[x]MKJV: And the prophet went and waited for the king by the wayside, and disguised himself with ashes on his face. BBE: So the prophet went away, and pulling his head-band over his eyes to keep his face covered, took his place by the road waiting for the king. 38 So the prophet went away, and pulling his head-band over his eyes to keep his face covered, took his place by the road waiting for the king.
38 선지자가 가서 수건으로 그 눈을 가리워 변형하고 길 가에서 왕을 기다리다가
39 And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.[x]MKJV: And as the king passed by, it happened he cried to the king. And he said, Your servant went out into the middle of the battle, and, behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said, Keep this man. If he is missing by any means, then your life shall be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver. BBE: And when the king went by, crying out to him he said, Your servant went out into the fight; and a man came out to me with another man and said, Keep this man: if by any chance he gets away, your life will be the price of his life, or you will have to give a talent of silver in payment. KAV: 왕이 지나갈 때에 왕에게 소리 질러 이르되, 왕의 종이 전쟁의 한가운데로 나갔는데, 보소서, 한 사람이 돌이켜 어떤 사람을 끌고 내게로 와서 말하기를, 이 사람을 지키라. 어찌 되었든지 그를 잃어버리면 네 생명으로 그의 생명을 대신하거나 그렇지 아니하면 네가 은 일 달란트를 주어야 하리라, 하였나이다. 39 And when the king went by, crying out to him he said, Your servant went out into the fight; and a man came out to me with another man and said, Keep this man: if by any chance he gets away, your life will be the price of his life, or you will have to give a talent of silver in payment.
39 왕이 지나갈 때에 소리질러 왕을 불러 가로되 종이 전장 가운데 나갔더니 한 사람이 돌이켜 어떤 사람을 끌고 내게로 와서 말하기를 이 사람을 지키라 만일 저를 잃어버리면 네 생명으로 저의 생명을 대신하거나 그렇지 아니하면 네가 은 한 달란트를 내어야 하리라 하였거늘
40 And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israelsaid unto him, So shall thy judgmentbe; thyself hast decidedit.[x]MKJV: And it happened as your servant was busy here and there, he was gone! And the king of Israel said to him, So [shall] your judgment be; you yourself have decided [it]. BBE: But while your servant was turning this way and that, he was gone. Then the king of Israel said to him, You are responsible; you have given the decision against yourself. KAV: 그런데 왕의 종이 여기저기서 바쁘게 지내는 동안에 그가 없어졌나이다, 하니 이스라엘 왕이 그에게 이르되, 네가 스스로 결정하였은즉 너에 대한 재판이 그와 같이 될지니라, 하매 TSK: So shall thy judgment be: 2sa 12:5-7, job 15:6, mt 21:41-43, mt 25:24-27, lu 19:22
40 But while your servant was turning this way and that, he was gone. Then the king of Israel said to him, You are responsible; you have given the decision against yourself.
40 종이 이리 저리 일 볼 동안에 저가 없어졌나이다 이스라엘 왕이 저에게 이르되 네가 스스로 결정하였으니 그대로 당하여야 하리라
41 And he hasted, and took the ashesaway from his face; and the king of Israeldiscerned him that he was of the prophets.[x]MKJV: And he hurried and took the ashes away from his face. 41 Then he quickly took the head-band from his eyes; and the king of Israel saw that he was one of the prophets.
41 저가 급히 그 눈에 가리운 수건을 벗으니 이스라엘 왕이 저는 선지자 중 한 사람인 줄 알아 본지라
42 And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thyhand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.[x]MKJV: And he said to him, So says the LORD, Because you have let go out of [your] hand a man whom I devoted [to destruction], therefore your life shall be for his life, and your people for his people. 43 Then the king of Israel went back to his house, bitter and angry, and came to Samaria.
