1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, By the living Lord, the God of Israel, whose servant I am, there will be no dew or rain in these years, but only at my word.1 길르앗에 우거하는 자 중에 디셉 사람 엘리야가 아합에게 고하되 나의 섬기는 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 맹세하노니 내 말이 없으면 수년 동안 우로가 있지 아니하리라 하니라
2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,2 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,2 여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 가라사대
3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.3 Go from here in the direction of the east, and keep yourself in a secret place by the stream Cherith, east of Jordan.3 너는 여기서 떠나 동으로 가서 요단 앞 그릿 시냇가에 숨고
4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.4 The water of the stream will be your drink, and by my orders the ravens will give you food there.4 그 시냇물을 마시라 내가 까마귀들을 명하여 거기서 너를 먹이게 하리라
5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.5 So he went and did as the Lord said, living by the stream Cherith, east of Jordan.5 저가 여호와의 말씀과 같이 하여 곧 가서 요단 앞 그릿 시냇가에 머물매
6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.6 And the ravens took him bread in the morning and meat in the evening; and the water of the stream was his drink.6 까마귀들이 아침에도 떡과 고기를, 저녁에도 떡과 고기를 가져왔고 저가 시내를 마셨더니
7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.7 Now after a time the stream became dry, because there was no rain in the land.7 땅에 비가 내리지 아니하므로 얼마 후에 그 시내가 마르니라
8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,8 여호와의 말씀이 엘리야에게 임하여 가라사대
9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.9 Up! go now to Zarephath, in Zidon, and make your living-place there; I have given orders to a widow woman there to see that you have food.9 너는 일어나 시돈에 속한 사르밧으로 가서 거기 유하라 내가 그곳 과부에게 명하여 너를 공궤하게 하였느니라
10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.10 So he got up and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the door of the town, he saw a widow woman getting sticks together; and crying out to her he said, Will you give me a little water in a vessel for my drink?10 저가 일어나 사르밧으로 가서 성문에 이를 때에 한 과부가 그곳에서 나무가지를 줍는지라 이에 불러 가로되 청컨대 그릇에 물을 조금 가져다가 나로 마시게 하라
11 And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.11 And when she was going to get it, he said to her, And get me with it a small bit of bread.11 저가 가지러 갈때에 엘리야가 저를 불러 가로되 청컨대 네 손에 떡 한 조각을 내게로 가져오라
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.12 Then she said, By the life of the Lord your God, I have nothing but a little meal in my store, and a drop of oil in the bottle; and now I am getting two sticks together so that I may go in and make it ready for me and my son, so that we may have a meal before our death.12 저가 가로되 당신의 하나님 여호와의 사심을 가리켜 맹세하노니 나는 떡이 없고 다만 통에 가루 한 움큼과 병에 기름 조금 뿐이라 내가 나무가지 두엇을 주워다가 나와 내 아들을 위하여 음식을 만들어 먹고 그 후에는 죽으리라
13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.13 And Elijah said to her, Have no fear; go and do as you have said, but first make me a little cake of it and come and give it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son.13 엘리야가 저에게 이르되 두려워 말고 가서 네 말대로 하려니와 먼저 그것으로 나를 위하여 작은 떡 하나를 만들어 내게로 가져오고 그 후에 너와 네 아들을 위하여 만들라
14 For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.14 For this is the word of the Lord, the God of Israel: The store of meal will not come to an end, and the bottle will never be without oil, till the day when the Lord sends rain on the earth.14 이스라엘 하나님 여호와의 말씀이 나 여호와가 비를 지면에 내리는 날까지 그 통의 가루는 다하지 아니하고 그 병의 기름은 없어지지 아니하리라 하셨느니라
15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.15 So she went and did as Elijah said; and she and he and her family had food for a long time.15 저가 가서 엘리야의 말대로 하였더니 저와 엘리야와 식구가 여러날 먹었으나
16 And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.16 The store of meal did not come to an end, and the bottle was never without oil, as the Lord had said by the mouth of Elijah.16 여호와께서 엘리야로 하신 말씀 같이 통의 가루가 다하지 아니하고 병의 기름이 없어지지 아니하니라
17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.17 Now after this, the son of the woman of the house became ill, so ill that there was no breath in him.17 이 일 후에 그 집 주모 되는 여인의 아들이 병들어 증세가 심히 위중하다가 숨이 끊어진지라
18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?18 And she said to Elijah, What have I to do with you, O man of God? have you come to put God in mind of my sin, and to put my son to death?18 여인이 엘리야에게 이르되 하나님의 사람이여 당신이 나로 더불어 무슨 상관이 있기로 내 죄를 생각나게 하고 또 내 아들을 죽게 하려고 내게 오셨나이까
19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.19 And he said to her, Give your son to me. And lifting him out of her arms, he took him up to his room and put him down on his bed.19 엘리야가 저에게 그 아들을 달라 하여 그를 그 여인의 품에서 취하여 안고 자기의 거처하는 다락에 올라 가서 자기 침상에 누이고
20 And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?20 And crying to the Lord he said, O Lord my God, have you sent evil even on the widow whose guest I am, by causing her son's death?20 여호와께 부르짖어 가로되 나의 하나님 여호와여 주께서 또 내가 우거하는 집 과부에게 재앙을 내리사 그 아들로 죽게 하셨나이까 하고
21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.21 And stretching herself out on the child three times, he made his prayer to the Lord, saying, O Lord my God, be pleased to let this child's life come back to him again.21 그 아이 위에 몸을 세번 펴서 엎드리고 여호와께 부르짖어 가로되 나의 하나님 여호와여 원컨대 이 아이의 혼으로 그 몸에 돌아오게 하옵소서 하니
22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.22 And the Lord gave ear to the voice of Elijah, and the child's spirit came into him again, and he came back to life.22 여호와께서 엘리야의 소리를 들으시므로 그 아이의 혼이 몸으로 돌아 오고 살아난지라
23 And Elijah took the child, and brought him down out of the chamber into the house, and delivered him unto his mother: and Elijah said, See, thy son liveth.23 And Elijah took the child down from his room into the house and gave him to his mother and said to her, See, your son is living.23 엘리야가 그 아이를 안고 다락에서 방으로 내려가서 그 어미에게 주며 이르되 보라 네 아들이 살았느니라
24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth.24 Then the woman said to Elijah, Now I am certain that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is true.24 여인이 엘리야에게 이르되 내가 이제야 당신은 하나님의 사람이시요 당신의 입에 있는 여호와의 말씀이 진실한줄 아노라 하니라
