1 Now after this it came to pass, that Davidsmote the Philistines, and subdued them, and tookGath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.[x]MKJV: And it happened after this, David struck the Philistines and humbled them. And he took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. BBE: And it came about after this that David made an attack on the Philistines and overcame them, and took Gath with its daughter-towns out of the hands of the Philistines. BBE: Then David overcame Hadadezer, king of Zobah, near Hamath, when he was going to make his power seen by the river Euphrates. 3 Then David overcame Hadadezer, king of Zobah, near Hamath, when he was going to make his power seen by the river Euphrates.
3 소바 왕 하닷에셀이 유브라데강 가에서 자기 권세를 펴고자 하매 다윗이 저를 쳐서 하맛까지 이르고
4 And Davidtook from him a thousandchariots, and seventhousandhorsemen, and twentythousandfootmenㆍ: David also hocked all the chariothorses, but reserved of them an hundredchariots.[x]MKJV: And David took from him a thousand chariots and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen. David also hamstrung all the chariot [horses], but kept from them a hundred chariots. BBE: And David took from him a thousand war-carriages and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand footmen: and he had the leg-muscles of all the horses cut, keeping only enough of them for a hundred war-carriages. 4 And David took from him a thousand war-carriages and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand footmen: and he had the leg-muscles of all the horses cut, keeping only enough of them for a hundred war-carriages.

5 And when the Syrians of Damascuscame to helpHadarezerking of Zobah, Davidslew of the Syrianstwo and twentythousandmen.[x]MKJV: And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand men of the Syrians. BBE: And when the Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David put to the sword twenty-two thousand Aramaeans. 5 And when the Aramaeans of Damascus came to the help of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, David put to the sword twenty-two thousand Aramaeans.

Thus the LORDpreservedDavid whithersoever he went.[x]MKJV: Then David placed [troops] in Syria, [in] Damascus. And the Syrians became David's servants, bringing gifts. And the LORD preserved David wherever he went. BBE: Then David put armed forces in Damascus, and the Aramaeans became his servants and gave him offerings. And the Lord made David overcome wherever he went. KAV: 그 뒤에 시리아다마스커스에 수비대를 두매 시리아 사람들이 다윗의 종이 되어 예물을 가져오니라. 다윗이 어디를 가든지 {주}께서 이같이 그를 보존하시니라.
6 Then David put armed forces in Damascus, and the Aramaeans became his servants and gave him offerings. And the Lord made David overcome wherever he went.

7 And Davidtook the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.[x]MKJV: And David took the shields of gold which [were] on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Tibhath and from Cun, towns of Hadadezer, David took a great store of brass, of which Solomon made the great brass water-vessel and the brass pillars and vessels.
8 또 하닷에셀의 성읍 디브핫과 군에서 심히 많은 놋을 취하였더니 솔로몬이 그것으로 놋바다와 기둥과 놋그릇들을 만들었더라
9 Now when Touking of Hamathheard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezerking of Zobah;[x]MKJV: And Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadarezer king of Zobah, BBE: Now when Tou, king of Hamath, had news that David had overcome all the army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, KAV: ¶ 이제 하맛 왕 도우가 다윗이 소바 왕 하달에셀의 온 군대를 쳤다는 것을 듣고는

10 He sentHadoram his son to kingDavid, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had warwithTou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.[x]MKJV: he sent Hadoram his son to king David to ask of his welfare, and to praise him because he had fought against Hadarezer and had beaten him. For Hadarezer had war with Tou. And [he sent] all kinds of vessels of gold and silver and bronze. BBE: He sent his son Hadoram to King David, to give him words of peace and blessing, because he had overcome Hadadezer in the fight, for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou; and he gave him all sorts of vessels of gold and silver and brass. 10 He sent his son Hadoram to King David, to give him words of peace and blessing, because he had overcome Hadadezer in the fight, for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou; and he gave him all sorts of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
10 그 아들 하도람을 보내어 다윗왕에게 문안하고 축복하게 하니 이는 하닷에셀이 이왕에 도우로 더불어 여러번 전쟁이 있던 터에 다윗이 하닷에셀을 쳐서 파하였음이라 하도람이 금과 은과 놋의 여러가지 그릇을 가져 온지라
11 Them also kingDaviddedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all thesenations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.[x]MKJV: And King David dedicated them to the LORD, with the silver and the gold which he brought from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. BBE: These King David made holy to the Lord, together with the silver and gold he had taken from all nations; from Edom and Moab and from the children of Ammon and from the Philistines and from Amalek. KAV: ¶ 다윗 왕이 그것들도 {주}께 봉헌하되 에돔과 모압과 암몬 자손과 블레셋 사람들과 아말렉 등 이 모든 민족에게서 자기가 가져온 은과 금과 함께 봉헌하니라.
11 These King David made holy to the Lord, together with the silver and gold he had taken from all nations; from Edom and Moab and from the children of Ammon and from the Philistines and from Amalek.
11 다윗왕이 그것도 여호와께 드리되 에돔과 모압과 암몬 자손과 블레셋 사람과 아말렉등 여러 족속에게서 취하여온 은금과 함께하여 드리니라
12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiahslew of the Edomites in the valley of salteighteenㆍthousand.[x]MKJV: And Abishai the son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand of the men of Edom in the Valley of Salt. BBE: And when he came back from putting to the sword eighteen thousand of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt, KAV: 또 스루야의 아들 아비새가 소금 골짜기에서 에돔 족속 만 팔천 명을 죽이니라.

13 David put armed forces in all the towns of Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. The Lord made David overcome wherever he went.
13 다윗이 에돔에 수비대를 두매 에돔 사람이 다 다윗의 종이 되니라 다윗이 어디로 가든지 여호와께서 이기게 하셨더라
14 So Davidreigned over all Israel, and executedjudgment and justice among all his people.[x]MKJV: And David reigned over all Israel, and did judgment and justice among all his people. BBE: So David was king over all Israel, judging and giving right decisions for all his people. KAV: ¶ 다윗이 이같이 온 이스라엘을 통치하며 자기의 온 백성 가운데서 공의와 정의를 집행하였더라.
