1 Now Hiramㆍking of Tyresentmessengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.[x]MKJV: And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timbers of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him a house. 1 And Hiram, king of Tyre, sent men to David with cedar-trees, and stoneworkers and woodworkers for the building of his house.

8 And when the Philistines had news that David had been made king over all Israel, they went up in search of David, and David, hearing of it, went out against them.

10 And Davidinquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORDsaid unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.[x]MKJV: And David asked of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said to him, Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand. BBE: And David, desiring directions from God, said, Am I to go up against the Philistines? and will you give them into my hands? And the Lord said, Go up; for I will give them into your hands. KAV: 다윗이 [하나님]께 여쭈어 이르되, 내가 블레셋 사람들을 치러 올라가리이까? 주께서 그들을 내 손에 넘겨주시겠나이까? 하니 {주}께서 그에게 이르시되, 올라가라. 내가 그들을 네 손에 넘겨주리라, 하시니라.
10 And David, desiring directions from God, said, Am I to go up against the Philistines? and will you give them into my hands? And the Lord said, Go up; for I will give them into your hands.

11 So they came up to Baalperazim; and Davidsmote them there. Then Davidsaid, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that placeBaalperazim.[x]MKJV: And they came up to Baal-perazim. And David struck them there. Then David said, God has broken in on my enemies by my hand like the breaking forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place The Breaking of Baal. BBE: So they went up to Baal-perazim, and David overcame them there, and David said, God has let the forces fighting against me be broken by my hand, as a wall is broken down by rushing water; so they gave that place the name of Baal-perazim. 11 So they went up to Baal-perazim, and David overcame them there, and David said, God has let the forces fighting against me be broken by my hand, as a wall is broken down by rushing water; so they gave that place the name of Baal-perazim.
11 이에 무리가 바알브라심으로 올라 갔더니 다윗이 거기서 저희를 치고 가로되 하나님이 물을 흩음 같이 내 손으로 내 대적을 흩으셨다 함으로 그곳 이름을 바알브라심이라 칭하니라
12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.[x]MKJV: And they left their gods there. And David commanded, and they were burned with fire. BBE: And the Philistines did not take their images with them in their flight; and at David's orders they were burned with fire. KAV: 거기서 그들이 자기들의 신들을 버렸으므로 다윗이 명령하여 그것들을 불태우게 하니라.

BBE: And David went for directions to God; and God said to him, You are not to go up after them; but, turning away from them, come face to face with them opposite the spice-trees. KAV: 다윗이 다시 [하나님]께 여쭈니 [하나님]께서 그에게 이르시되, 그들을 따라 올라가지 말고 그들에게서 돌이켜 뽕나무 수풀 맞은편에서 그들을 습격하되
14 And David went for directions to God; and God said to him, You are not to go up after them; but, turning away from them, come face to face with them opposite the spice-trees.
14 다윗이 또 하나님께 묻자온대 하나님이 이르시되 마주 올라가지 말고 저희 뒤로 돌아 뽕나무 수풀 맞은편에서 저희를 엄습하되
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forthbefore thee to smite the host of the Philistines.[x]MKJV: And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the weeping trees, then you shall go out to battle. For God has gone forth before you to strike the army of the Philistines. BBE: And at the sound of footsteps in the tops of the trees, go out to the fight, for God has gone out before you to overcome the army of the Philistines. 15 And at the sound of footsteps in the tops of the trees, go out to the fight, for God has gone out before you to overcome the army of the Philistines.
15 뽕나무 꼭대기에서 걸음 걷는 소리가 들리거든 곧 나가서 싸우라 하나님이 네 앞서 나아가서 블레셋 사람의 군대를 치리라 하신지라
16David therefore did as Godcommanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.[x]MKJV: And David did as God commanded him. And they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon to Gezer. BBE: And David did as the Lord had said; and they overcame the army of the Philistines, attacking them from Gibeon as far as Gezer. KAV: 그러므로 다윗이 [하나님]께서 자기에게 명령하신 대로 행하여 그들이 기브온에서부터 게셀까지 블레셋 사람들의 군대를 치니
16 And David did as the Lord had said; and they overcame the army of the Philistines, attacking them from Gibeon as far as Gezer.
16 이에 다윗이 하나님의 명대로 행하여 블레셋 사람의 군대를 쳐서 기브온에서부터 게셀까지 이르렀더니
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORDbrought the fear of him upon all nations.[x]MKJV: And the name of David went out into all lands. And Jehovah brought the fear of him on all nations. BBE: And David's name was honoured in all lands; and the Lord put the fear of him on all nations. KAV: 다윗의 명성이 온 땅에 퍼지고 {주}께서 모든 민족들로 하여금 그를 두려워하게 하셨더라.
